How about auto-moderating all posts that contain a live link to members with less than 10 posts?
These spammers are irritating

I am almost always up around 5 am Eastern. They seem to hit early morning. I use the report post feature. But it makes me wait a minute between reports. Be nice to have one or two whos only job is to delete spam posts. Preferably someone who is on between midnight and 8 AM eastern. That's when they all seem to hit. Just a thought.

4wheelin sees lots of that at that hour and gets rid of it, as does all staff at different hours of the day, maybe same hours

Spam has not slowed down. Our staff has been on them continuously.

new registries here at iptvTalk now are Moderated
They can not post until they have been screened and approved.

We have had this in place before when we were hit hard by a particular spamming group, it seemed to have stopped them and the screening was removed.
But as a temporary ploy, we now have it back in place.

Our apologies to those new registries that are not spammers, and have not been activated yet (approved).
I will be checking new registries continuously all weekend, so it may only be a couple hour wait guys.

Got my first spam in my "Messages" box this morning........... I'm Honoured...... Yea Right..... I have a suggestion that would stop it. At least slow it completely and make it more of a hassle than it would be worth. Captcha everything. At least for now all new members must captcha all posts weather they are personal messages, Profiles, or Posts. Make people get like 10 or more posts with that till they can post without.(Substantial posts not just "How Ya doing" posts.) The one constant here is they are always "New Members". That would stop it. With that in place..... A spammer shows up and signs up. They make a post. Get the crap captcha out of them. Maybe 5 minutes later they have succeeded on only a single post, and or Message. I do not think they will keep going. Those guys are going for total numbers in least amount of time so this way that incentive will be taken away from them. In other words take the profit out of it. No money for them no spam. They will move on to other sites. Only other way I can see is all posts are reviewed before they hit the boards. And that is a lot to ask of any moderating team anywhere. That would help in the forum but not the PM's. Any way that is just a thought that I am pretty sure will work. Have a great day!

Good suggestions Dan. First, there is no reason to have "Visitor Messaging" on, so that should be turned off. We don't see a lot of complaints about PMs, at least through the reporting system, but we are open to those so we can get those logins off the board. The spammers goals aren't for viewers to buy the product, but more to try to make this board unusable... just the way things are.
