Setup help kcmood

i see you spelled rocket low case r its upper Rocket, and did you put in tv system, graphicplane - if thats wrong no tv-- did you look up your system and graphic for your tv in the manual that came with it

Today is another day and I am still having problems setting up the mag254. The things I put in yesterday were all wrong, time portals, etc. I tried this am to delete the portal inf. but could not. Why is there 2 portals? I must be pretty dummmmmb but I put rocket in one and then the http://info in the other one. They both ask for url I reset it this am by unplugging power cord and plugging in again but it did not remove the old info I had put in yesterday. Also right now I am using a Ethernet cord back and forth from my fta stb to the mag. Is that a problem? Tried the info from yesterday to factory default but could not find the default settings to click on. Please help me out

do not ever swap a data line back and forth, buy a router and/or a second cable. you have to reset the modem/gateway/router every time you make the switch to release the mac. thats the fastest way to burn out your internet device.

insanity has a point, the switching back and forth could be causing a conflict with modem/router, if you have another cable by all means use it..
and thanks for taking care of that post....K00l

if you didnt reset your internet device when cord is swapped, internet device is locked onto fta box and not looking for new device. wont connect to anything else untill mac is reset

the only other thing I think you should do is go to BIOS menu and ensure you're using NAND, if so switch to the other NAND...the choices are NAND and NAND2..make sure you save your change and exit..the box will reboot itself don't unplug it

I had planned on buying another router if I ever got this box to working. It still works when I switch to nana. I will go a buy a router and give a try but it seems to me if it gives internet to the nano it should give internet to the mag right?

when an internet device first boots up. it pulls an ip from the head end, (anything in front of it) then it looks for a mac addy from anything pluged in behind it. once it finds one. it remembers it. and wont look for a new one untill the info is lost. to lose the info, it needs to lose power for a minute or so.
