Forget about Coinbase, its linked to Simplex which is anything but simple. Just go to a Bitcoin ATM and forget the links, the gateways, the payment options that lead to more confusion, more information that they don't need. Looks to me like the post you quoted used the ATM method.Pretty simple from what i have seen and read.They may have lost some,But most likely gained others because of this method so it works both ways.
