ON/OFF light

When I turn mag 254 off the light seems to stay the same as when it is on and the menu stays on screen. I take it off hdmi and go to something else. The next time I use the mag it has a black screen with the time moving about the screen. Does this mean it is off? My other units when I turn them off there is a note on screen saying not connected. Not so on the mag. Is this normal?

when the mag is on the blue light dims a little ,it is brighter when off.

I understand about the dimming of the light. Mine is very hard to tell if it dimmed or not. However, the rest of my question you didn't answer.

I get exactly the same lite is dimmer AND time bouncing around screen....it seems it is basically sleeping ..because when you press the OK button its immediately UP....I only have LIMITED experience since ive had it less than a week

it does sound like it is in standby ,it is best to leave it at main menu if you have limited bandwidth, so it doesn't come on to live tv without anyone watching it,then power off and see if it does same.

Yes I always put it back to main menu before turning it off. I have a vcr, dvd. stb all connected to the same tv. When those units are turned off my tv says not connected. Not so with the mag. Normal?

one more thing you may want to do...in main menu, go to settings, ok..scroll down to portal, ok...top info will say last channel viewed or main menu, change to main menu and click ok to save...

I am such a dummy! I have been using the blue button to turn it off instead of the red button. Everything is fine now. I guess that is why the blue light didn't change from bright to dim.

Best way i do it to make sure my box is off first then my tv i dont rely on the light.
