I don't get why nascar thinks that is a good idea

Drivers are loosing spots and drivers are gaining spots without even doing any racing.
Clint went from 9th to 5th, while Kyle went from top 10 to below top 10

I just don't get it

I think the lane choice makes sense if you are more than a couple back for the #2 spot. Outside lane is so much better here.
