is it necessary to update kodi version 16.1 or does it work just the same with kodi 16.0?

Should work the same. But you should update to keep other addons working.

i absolutely hate Kodi 16 of any version, i just did a fresh install on all my devices back to 15.2 this version is smoother and works better. Only thing that even remotely an improvement of 16 was the keyboard that has the / . : on front and not have to click on the signs key. All addons works just fine on 15 as well as 16.
