I have seen this problem. Sometimes your hdmi will not transfer audio. Try disconnecting then reconnecting your hdmi from your box first, if this does not help then from the TV. This always worked for me.

Sometimes the cable itself has an issue. Test it in another environment. PC to Monitor, DVD to TV. If the audio never works, then there's a problem with the cable. Isolate the variables.
