Thing is, if the sentence is read correctly, they are separate statements. It does not indicate that the Rooster laid eggs.
It says to then add how many eggs were hatched this week, (assuming on the farm).


"How many times his rooster crowed this morning then add how many eggs hatched this week"

But hey , yous can go with the other if you like, it's your math guys
