Audio issue with AVOV TV Onlline box

Hello Everyone . I recently purchased an AVOV TV Online box from a reseller here in Ontario Canada. I explained that I planned to hook it up to my Pioneer 50" plasma ( Mod # PDP 507CMX ) via HDMI but using a DVI adapter as the monitor has no onboard sound . Sale rep assured me that I could run audio separate from the 3.5mm jack on the box to my Sony sound bar . NOPE ! no sound ... Anything you can suggest before I return the box ? I opened a help ticket on AVOV's site but haven't heard anything from them as yet Thanks.

Thanks asft . I see your suggestion but I really don't want to add even more peripherals to the mix . I bought based on the resellers assurance it was compatible given that I gave him all the info I could on my set up at home . I will await AVOV's response to my help ticket and share the result .
