I use the onboard file player. I download episodes to usb and play them no problem. All types too.
Goto Tools/File Browser then click on usb drive

I tried it and yes, this is a very good player. I wish it was part of a main menu instead of being hidden in the background. Also, it would be nice if it remembered the last played position if you happen to stop the video some where in the middle. Perhaps you could ask them to enhance this in the future update.

I understand that, it works fine with PLEX PASS , which I have. I do have access to an .apk however when I try to install it via USB it doesn't work, must be something to get around that

Captain... Just wondering if usb has to be formatted to ntfs?
When I try to copy files over the network on fat32 formatted usb, I get message, "Are you sure you want to copy this file without its properties?"
No problem with ntfs formatted usb!!

Also any safe way to unmount usb from T1?

Mine are formatted Fat32
No need to unmount, just remove from box
