This topic is for those who want to test the new IPTV services while waiting for a great compromise box. To get this, here is the link for the app on the google play store:
c - MAC-address: 00:1A:78:##:##:## changing the # to hexdigits of your last six of your device
- Note1: This MAC has to be associated with your paid donation/rocket/route. If you don't have one of these, this site recommends: http://iptvrocket.is
- Note2: The last six digits are to your choosing, between 0-9, A-F. Be sufficiently random, do not pick obvious sequences like 12:34:56, or 22:22:22. If you do, and are successful, you are liable for someone taking your MAC, and broadcasting it across the internet as a valid number.
- Note3: Visit the following sites to link your MAC
d - Stalker settings, check Play in preview only by OK. (Stops autoplay)
- If you are running the emulator with an Android Emulator, you need to install an external video player within Android and enabling it by selecting external player as the mediaplayer in the 'three-dot' menu in the top far right screen corner. MX player and XMTV player are possible options (XMTV works best for me). If you are running the emulator on an Android box, the external player is recommended if you cant get the VLC plugins or internal player to work properly.
Android Emulators for Windows:
- Bluestacks seems to be the easiest PC program to run the STB emulator. It runs Android applications
but doesn't emulate a true Android environment. You will be asked to add programs to run it for free.
Code:
www.bluestacks.com
- Andy also works with the STB emulator. This program requires some more configuration and is a resource hog as it runs a virtual machine in the Windows environment.

Since Macs can run linux, although I haven't done the research yet, I don't see why Macs couldn't run android on Parallels Desktop or other platform emulations. This might workout nicely for media centers.
I hope someone will take this up and report there outcome.
I'm having lots of problems running the emulator on my PC using Andy and BlueStacks. The problems are with getting the profiles set up, and with the emulator not correctly syncing to the PC'S android emulator (Andy).
Unless you are venturesome, its not a good solution for a FreeTV type... only for real testers.
Thank you Dara, it works good here, on the pc I got to exit the emulator everytime I got to go to a different movie. Definitly it's a very good way to install and test the service on any android box or a pc.
I was hoping maybe there is a way to do it on kodi.
date, which PC emulator are you using? I can't figure out a keyboard command to access the STB emulator menu. I'm using Windows 8.1, so that may be a problem also.
I have downloaded the bluestacks then through it downloaded the stb emulator then from there I have setup the url for the trial and changes the last three set of the mac address on the emulator to anything yo like then exit then re enter now all should be good for you.
Note: don't worry about the model if it says mag from 254-270 models this software will work everywhere it could downloaded.
Thank you for your help.
Bluestacks seems to work best, because it stays on the same tablet aspect, vs. switching to "whatever" like Andy. The STB Emulator will force Andy to go to a "phone" aspect or even upside down, but Andy is more like a real android experience. I'm going to try another emulator called windroy, to see if it works better than bluestacks. I don't like that Bluestacks will force you to install apps that you don't need, but Andy requires that you see ads to use it.
I'm also running the emulator on my "mediabox" android, but it also has some problems with aspect ratios for the application. I can now see why they call the emulator solutions, even on a MAG260, as 'unstable'.
same problems here... im using it on a mag 260, and it is very unstable.. it works, but sometimes the movie doesnt play and you have to exit and force quit the emulator or reset the 260...
This problem exists because you need to adjust the resolution and marry it with your tv resolution so both will become compatible to each other, in the profile option click on resolution and make your adjustment accordingly.
date i got bluestacks i am in the app emulator choices witch one do i download can you give us bit more detail
this for PC wd 7 thanks in advance. You are doing a fantastic job helping members !!!!!
No worry, we learn from each other.
So basically just open the browser inside the bluestacks and type in stb emulator then download it and set it up based on the free trial url by going up right corner and by clicking on fourth option which is on the other side of the rc then just head to the profile option then portal setting apply the url then go to the mac address and change the last three set of your numbers, then adjust your resolution.
acutally, i read post elsewhere to download mxplayer.apk which i did for the 260, and the problem is gone!!!! i can now switch between movies, stop a movie and start another without restarting the device.... Runs very stable at this minute!!!
