you should sill be able to update back to the r14 , just thru the mag and the internet connection (see post #18 shown above)

Crazed Tried thru mag but I got a read error. Downloaded you file but got a file not found error thru USB. Do I need the whole file you sent. I'm new to this so you have to spell it out step by step. Thanks in advance

When does it give an error and what error is it ?

okay, but lets try thru the receiver and http again, that is easiest method.

depending where you are at in the menu screens, get into the Inner Portal.
If you are in Live TV and Video Club viewing menus, then scroll over till you see the Settings tab and then in there is a 'Go to Inner Portal' option.
Then into the next Settings tab you will see there.
Then in there ensue it shows...
Autoupdate : With Confirmation
Update beta versions = On

Then use the green button on remote (update Manually).
Then with New Version slot highlighted, use the bottom left hand button on your remote (as pictured on that New Version slot). That function will bring up any and all versions available. The r14 and the r16 should be there.

If not, then exit back to where the menu screen shows the 'Select a portal for loading'

It gives you chooses of Embedded Portal and your server URL portal and the System settings Portal
Go into Settings.
Then scroll the next screen down till you see the Software Update option.
Open that and it should show ..
Update Method : HTTP
URL : http://mag.infmir.com.ua/254/r2/imageupdate

Then OK to verify....
Then Exit back out and into Embedded Portal and into Settings and back into Software autoupdate and the green button again.


lets us know how that works, and if any errors, what are they ?

i got the new 218 file for my 254 and now it freezes up and blanks out to a black screen and it wont respond to the remote when you try to reboot it or restart the portal i have to pull the power out the back to get it to reboot, i did the auto update in the settings, it is a hundred times worse now then ever and most of my channels im subpost to be getting from iptvprivateserver dont come in can anyone help me?

Same here with new file wifi will connect but Internet will not and when it does it only lasts for 3 to 4 min and then the black screen and all the same problems you are having, anyone having a better solution to this ?

also i didnt go through inner portal. Just settings --> software update and then add the url above. It's probably already there and you just need to add the "R2"

I do know there has been an expected new file push for the newer 256 model. The new file for that showed up about a week or so ago on the web, but was not pushed thru the box yet.

Far as this 254 r16 fileand what the update is for, Bkman prolly has the answer

We can use it for a discussion thread concerning this new firmware update.


I have noticed something new with the mag 254 after the newest update r16
There was another that posted same thing but do not know if he has updated to new firmware yet.

The functions become un-reponsive when scrolling Live channels.
I see it coming because the channels will all go dark no matter which channel I go to, then it gets stuck on a channel and will not respond.
Needs a reboot by unplugging it, to gain back response and channels.

Has happened 3 times since the new update was installed last night.

Is this a problem with the update ?
Anyone see this same thing, please report and which firmware your mag 254 may have onboard.

No, must be at your end. Works fine here.
Maybe your isp is blocking you. Try to restart your router. Try to reset your rocket. Maybe your cable is broken.

There is a new update as of Today Feb 20th, r17 I am not sure if this will work better?
It just got pushed as well.
