is it necessary to update kodi version 16.1 or does it work just the same with kodi 16.0?

I've installed the epg ninja on my fire stick and got it to work with the channels but for some reason the picture is very choppy...its not buffering but just looks choppy it's not running smoothly...does anyone know what issue can be?....thanks!
