Kurt Busch won his fourth pole of the year and the 26th of his career Friday at the brand new Charlotte Roval. He will start alongside AJ Allmendinger at the first-ever Bank of America Roval 400 Sunday at Charlotte Motor Speedway.

"We had a plan going into that," Busch told NBCSN after qualifying. "I'm really glad of (crew chief) Billy Scott, I'm glad it stuck and it worked and we produced the two laps that we did, I'm just really proud of everyone on this 41 car to come into a unique situation like this."

Martin Truex Jr. (13), Kyle Busch (14) and Kevin Harvick (19) all failed to advance to the second round of qualifying.

Denny Hamlin (27) hit a wall so badly on his first run, his crew had to use Denny Hamlin (27) hit a wall so badly on his first run, his crew had to use tape to put the back of his car back on. He was unable to get to the second round.

Erik Jones did not fair too well in practice today in his cup car. I might have to remove him from my pics, but not till this xfinity race is done.
This track is nuts. Spin outs every corner and blind... easy in practice (a few cars were wrecked) but in the race and with another 20 or 30 cars coming into that same corner.... look out for anyone !!


Track adjustment...
they moved the chacain barriers back just a bit. That was where a few guys wrecked their cars in practice (Wallace and Jones were two)
