"Kyle Busch will have a nice view for the start of Sunday’s Folds of Honor QuikTrip 500 (2 p.m. ET, FOX, PRN, SiriusXM) at Atlanta Motor Speedway.

Busch laid down a fast lap of 184.652 miles per hour in his No. 18 Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota to earn the pole, taking the top spot away from Ryan Newman in closing moments of the final round of Friday’s Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series qualifying session. It’s the first pole for Busch at the 1.54-mile Georgia oval.

Newman will flank Busch on the front row, turning a lap of 184.419 mph. Kevin Harvick qualified third (184.388 mph), Daniel Suarez fourth (184.229 mph), while Brad Keselowski rounded out the top five with a lap of 183.856 mph.

Keselowski posted the top time in Round 1, while Harvick paced the second round.

Notables that were knocked out following the first round include last week’s Daytona 500 champion Austin Dillon, Chase Elliott and Ryan Blaney.

The biggest news in qualifying involved defending Monster Energy Series champion Martin Truex Jr. He did not make a qualifying attempt after the No. 78 Furniture Row Racing Toyota failed the Optical Scanning Station three times during pre-qualifying inspection.

Per the NASCAR Rule Book, Blake Harris, car chief for the No. 78 team, has been ejected for the remainder of the race weekend. Truex will start at the rear of the field for Sunday’s race and will lose 30 minutes of practice time on Saturday."

From the World Wide Web :

"HAMPTON, Ga. – Atlanta Motor Speedway, a track that has dealt with weather issues often, faces another sour forecast for Sunday’s Folds of Honor QuikTrip 500 Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series race.

Sunday’s forecast calls for an 80% chance of rain and possible thunderstorms. The possibility of rain increases to 90% in the evening hours.

The rain is predicted to start mid-morning.

NASCAR is considering moving the race’s scheduled start time from 2 p.m. (ET) to 1 p.m., a decision that would have to be made no more than 24 hours in advance because of television considerations.

If the race is postponed Sunday, it would be rescheduled Monday. Monday’s forecast calls for morning showers, but sunshine is predicted for the afternoon."...! and Not So  ...!

Stewart-Hass #10 car driven by Aric Almirola, has a paint scheme taken directly from the Stroker Ace movie.
It was not Burt Reynold's Chicken Pit paint scheme thou, but that other actor guy's car (Parker Stevenson's)

Final Monster Cup practice today has ended,
They do not like tomorrow's weather forecast thou :(

Today's Xfinity Series Rinnai 250 @ Atlanta is up next. Only 3 Cup drivers will be in today's Xfinity , with Harvick being one of them.
The Truck race to follow, for today's double header.

Xfinity race we gots a strategy call that did not work out so well for one guy

With only a few laps to end stage 1, a caution comes out due to a tire skin on the track.
These tires these guys are on were also used during Qualifying. One guy lost a tire already.
Joey 'Roo' Lagano elected to stay out.
Harvick pitted and with 1 lap to go, came from 10th to 1st to blow by Lagano !!

Harvick wins the Xfinity race in the #98 Mustang, dominating from the end of Stage 1 all the way to the Checker.
