Lost administrative rights

I need help no mater what I try and do I keep getting needs administrator password. I tried safe mode and tried my microsoft login password and nothing. I am at a loss can anybody help.......thanks.........two-dogs

what OS are you using ?go to your search bar @ the bottom left type the word Admin hit enter: you will get several options.....

sounds like win 8/10 go to setting my account and press the manage my Microsoft account you will be taken to a web page. if that do not work you can try and switch to normal account its easy to set it as admin afterwards if isn't (choose account type) maybe after try switch back to ms login?

if all is lost and you can not login win8/10 has an option to "factory reset" f5 or f8 at boot i think it differs a bit, you need that blue gfx bootloader screen with big icons, choose advanced->reset system. you will loose data.

i have only used win10.. i reset a friends win8 though.

btw. before you do anything drastic; what does it say you need admin rights to do?

You can clear the local admin password with a boot disk.
