wired connected..
Majority of hotels now use a webpage as there own portal where you have to sign into with there wifi code, they no longer use the simple wifi method we are used to in the public.

Can you use the browser in the portal to get the hotel internet and sign in?

wired connected..
What speed is the internet at your sons cottage? Just because the computer connect doesn't mean it's fast enough for the mag

I had a similar problem in that the Mag254 worked at home but not at the home of a relative. Both connections were wireless, but I did set up the wireless connections properly on
at the relative's connection. When I took the Mag 254 home, I reset the resolution on the Mag254 to the lowest possible setting. When I took the unit back to the relative, it worked without a problem. Moral of my post is the suggestion to Mag 254 resolution to lowest setting which would make the unit compatible with different tv sets. No guarantee, but please try and let us know!

It should make no difference if hard wired or wireless.
