Sound setting Kodi PC

Hi all,

i am not sure if this is a computing problem or Kodi setting.

I have installed kodi on my PC successfully , however when i hook up HDMI connection to TV i cant seem to mute or lower sound on pc and receive /control sound through TV.
It simply mutes TV as well.

any pointers appreciated.

HDMI connection is source of audio and video, right ?
Some confussion going on there maybe. Is there another audio connection at play here ?

Reading further i think i need to enabled HDMI on pc through control panel

Nah, right click on the volume speaker in the lower right corner. Go to Playback, select hdmi and click "set as default". Enjoy

Edit: this assumes you are using a Windows PC. If not, just change the output device where that setting is hidden in your OS. Or just ask.
