How to get Infomir logo back

Thanks go to Bkman2020 for his findings.


Open "System settings" -> "Software update"
- Change current URL for updating to hxxp://mag.infomir.com.ua/r2/imageupdate_logo
- Press "OK" and update STB

Please note that only the underscore and the logo need to be added, the rest of the url is already there.

Just looked and bkman updated the thread last night when other members had the header error.


Bad error header problem? Here`s a quick fix: Restore to def settings in bios then re-do steps again. Worked for me perfect.

This was tested by me on a MAG250. not sure if it will work on the 254/255.

I have downloaded today the Win programm 7-zip 64bit and have made a gz-file from the INFOMIR logo (INFOMIR logo.bmp) :

uncompressed: 1.216 KB
compressed: 32 KB

And so it fits the limit of INFOMIR with 48 KB max.

INFOMIR has also made some changes in the Firmware and ssh rights mangment:

really its not a big deal its just a logo on boot up, it doesn't affect the box whatsoever.

I have the same BOOT LOGO problem with a MAG 255 (AuraHD Plus).
And when we will get finally a positive answer for MAG 254 - if we must update with this image or that image - I would be able to do the same with MAG 255. Sure, the path may be another.

It seems there are images with and without the lost BOOT LOGO!
If so, we must only insert the correct path and must do the update.
It would be way out easier than with ssh...

SOLUTION TO GET BACK THE RED INFOMR LOGO

I have now my BOOT LOGO on my MAG 255 back!
I found an INFOMIR site for MAG 255 (HD2 = AuraHD) with the files for r11 and especially two files are important:

- imageupdate
- imageupdate_logo

In the Header of the second one I found the following text:

...Logotype size: 44573...

Yor are remembering: Boot Logo Image should be compressed and max. 48 KB.

I took my USB stick and made Folder mag255 and into that mag255 folder i copied the file imageupdate_logo and renamed it to imageupdate.

In MAG 255:System settings > Software update > Update method
I changed the method from HTTP to USB.

Under Disk appeared: Kingston Data Traveler 2.0, my USB stick.
The update path changed to: /mag255/imageupdate

After starting the update from USB stick I had the same Firmware as before again, but WITH BOOT LOGO!

So we are now looking on the MAG 254!

The update file source is:

The Header from the second file says:

...Logotype size: 41031...

In MAG 254:System settings > Software update > Update method
You nust changed the method from HTTP to USB.

2).Place the both files (imageupdate and Bootstrap) into a folder called mag254 on your USB stick

SECOND STEP (BIOS) WIPE THE BOX:
PLUG IN POWER SUPPLY > HOLD MENU BUTTON
Enter The BIOS. > choose “Def. Settings” > press the right. If Message "Wrong message" pops up IGNORE;
Press “OK”.> Select “Exit & Save” to save and exit.
STB will reboot automatically.
message ´Tftp load ´ will be on screen. Now unplug POWER lead.

FINAL STEP: (BIOS) FLASH THE BOX
1) Plug the USB Stick in the REAR USB Port
2) Power the STB on - press and hold the MENU button (just above the volume up button - you have to be quick)
3) Go to Upgrade Tools, then USB bootstrap.

This will then flash the STB with all your portal settings, be patient. Proceed with normal set up.

It's been 3 days I am seating in front of the tv w/ my laptop on my lap reading all kind of infos from different sites that I am member of. But, finally, I got this sticky that is so simple,so explicit that I got my logo going back on. I keep getting a "Can't find......" message about the image file.... Tried everything. Hopefully when the next update comes out the boot logo will be back. Meanwhile I am going to just try and load just the "logo" pic by it's self.

I read sometime back that these files work for some Boxes: bootstrap_254.clean & imageupdate. In my box that combination did not work, but it worked for others. Can't think of a reason. Maybe (not sure) European build vs Chinese build. This is testing and I love it.

this method worked for me tonight to get the infomir logo back up and going. just remember to change the box address in mcast! i had tried everything i could to get my logo back,even these files,but,i forgot 1 important step.
on line 1 in mcast you have to change :50 to what your box says on the screen ( mine says 100 ) then on line 2 where the :51 is i changed to 101 and viola loaded these images and logo is back and it only took maybe 5 to 10 minutes max.

Then I started it again and this time started both. The TV showed only the one ip addy, but packets were being sent from both top and bottom. Just going to let it run till the packet count matches the File size number the program shows. But it looks like it is going to take hours in my case. But Hey! Gotta learn sometime. :)

on the first line did you change 50 to 100? ( that's why 254 says anyway ) leave everything the same just change the 50 to 100. then on the second line change the 51 to 101. after i did that it loaded,rebooted and had the infomir logo back withing 5 to 10 minutes max.

you are using mcast to load this or at least that's what i assumed by reading your post.
just to refresh:
line:1 is for your bootstrap_254 224.50.0.(50):9000 here's where you change 50 to 100 in the ( )
line:2 is for your imagefile 224.50.0.(51):9001 here's where you change 51 to 101 in the ( )

this is where you change to your box ip address. you will see it after you start the upgrade tools and select mcast to load the file.

Did all that. It ran for three hours. TV showed that it was running, and the packet count was going. I quit after that long. Yes to using Mcast. No biggie as the box performs Ok. Thanks for the input. Have a safe Holiday weekend! :)

I read so many other threads on this and could never get the logo back. Followed your step by step and it works perfect the 1st time. this should be a sticky.

this works only if you reset box to default factory setting. if you want to keep your setting you need MCAST metod from a PC same network as MAG BOX.
