speed test difference between laptop and mag254

Sorry I posted this on another thread before I realised how to open a new thread.

Hi, New member here, also new to IPTV and looking for some advice from people with a bit more knowledge than me.
I had a look through the forum but couldn't see anything similar to my problem which is buffering.
I did find several threads about it but I think my problem is slightly different to anything I have seen.

Ok, problem is
MAG254 (NEW) had it about 10 days and can barely watch anything even sd
When I do a speed test on my laptops it has been consistently between 6 and 9 meg and my ping is low 40s
which by all accounts should be fine.
But when I do a speed test on my MAG254 all I get is around 1mg (sometimes less )
It is hard wired to router and I have tried 4 different cables with no change to readings, in fact if I use the same
cable to my laptop I get 6 to 9 mg.

Is there a setting wrong somewhere in the MAG or does anyone know what else could be causing the issue?

Grateful for any advice as right now the box is less than useless.

You definitely do not talk about NFPS portal, because its speed test has never been activated

The speed test did work with the r3 file at one time, do not know if it still does.

I personally have never seen NFPS portal speed test enabled, checked and now is not activated. Restart the modem and STB , this should help you.

settings,,, go to inner portal,,, settings again,,, bottom left option is speed test.
my problem is laptop reads 7mg and mag reads 1 meg ? laptop runs smooth and mag stutters and freezes,,,,, however done another speed test at 4.00 am and laptop 7 meg and mag over 6meg.
next morning at 10.00 am mag back to 1 meg.

Mine is definitely working in the inner portal, have restarted me modem and mag box dozens of times now, my main query is why two such different reading between laptops and mag, with 7 at laptop and 1 at mag ?
