how would you know if your internet provider is blocking you. I have two boxes (1 a tvonline ) next ( a mag) and both stop working at the same time. I took them by a friend and all 2 show. so my questions are
Do I have to ping the server
do a tracet
and if a vpn will solve it
and how do you do a tracet and ping the server
To do a trace route, get to a command prompt ... using the basic windows search ... type tracert <<URL>>
Depending on ISP, they might have blocked you for running over their cap. Not much to do about that except deal with them. You can also try rebooting your modem to get back your internet.... if they are blocking sites, try an open DNS like Google's ...
call your isp end ask them if they are blocking your tvoline end mag

hi dara I try doing a tracert and cannot understand what it mean , there is no time out just different in minutes
I reboot the modem but it is the same thing, I did not say before but I am getting internet on other devices but just those two boxes that is giving problems. right now I am here trying to read up on how to do the Google DNS. I also call my internet provider and the person there was of no help so I will have to go there myself
ps if there is blocking it what can I do as I was told that the isp can also stop you from using a google dns

If you can get into your router, there should be a listing for primary and secondary dns. Usually the primary is the modem ip that your provider assigned. Change this to one of the google such as 8.8.8.8 and the secondary as 8.8.4.4. This way you are only going through your service provider and not using their dns.

can i sugest also try logging into your broadband account most isp's will say online if there is a cap of ussage, and most should provide a ussage tool. as far as them not being of help its against the law in any country to not answer the bill payers questions and if you unhappy with their call tell them your contacting an outside 3rd party like offcom to get your questions answered.

to unblock any blocking it will take a vpn but if its due to over ussage you normally would know as your ip profile will have changed. open a cmd in admin status if your windows vista/7/8 and type ipconfig /flushdns restart your pc

was checking and was told many different thing, there is also a message on the phone when you call that they have a problem with an underground line in Miami and the technicians are working on it. was also told that there is no problem and that I need more download speed ( i have 20 meg download unlimited) then another said that because of the merge (lime/flow) the transition plus the line damage in Miami is the cause ( these are all telephone operators or front desk personals not technicians). so my next step is to give it a few days and see what happen.

If your posted speed is consistent, you have plenty of speed for the service. I find talking to desk jockys to be a waste of time, go to supervisor or tech support surpervisor..just sayin

If you are talking about the freezing there isn't much you can do about it my boxes do the same thing until they get the leechers off the system it is something we will have to deal with. I found watching TV at 12am PST seems to be the best time zero glitches lol.
