He can castrate a bull calf with two swift slashes of his knife.
He swims naked in the river, smearing his body with mud.
He is a cowboy as raw as his hides.
The year is 1925
Director: Jane Campion
Writers: Jane Campion, based on Thomas Savage's book
Stars: Benedict Cumberbatch, Kirsten Dunst, Jesse Plemons
First thing I want to say is that Benedict makes for a terrible cowboy !
The introduction on him being the bull castrating, naked mud swimmer and raw hide cowboy are exaggerated.
He is a boring cow-hand, and nothing more.
This cowboy western is about two brothers and a woman that they both want, BUT not much else more to see here.
An interesting note...
Kristen Dunst and Jesse Plemons play husband and wive in this movie, and they also play husband and wive in the 2015 TV short-series, Fargo
Too bad with a cast like Cumberbatch, Dunst and Plemons.... that this movie turned out so boring
