Your new Essentials 2 model will by default show the 'BuzzTV Modern' Home screen.
The Home screen can also referred to as the 'Launcher screen' (because that is where you launch apps from).
Think of the Home screen as your Android's desktop, with lots of Shortcut icons on that desktop.
Home Screen
With the E2 you have the choice of 4 different Home Screens. These can be found in the BuzzTV Utilities.
There will be a couple ways to find the Utilities. Depending on what Home screen is currently being used, the Utilities may be found there as a Shortcut on the Home screen. Or there will be a Settings shortcut there too and open that and find the Utilities menu, Then scroll down to find the Home Screen option.
Home > BuzzTV Utilities > Home screen
OR
Home > Settings > BuzzTV Utilities > Home screen
There are 4 options
- BuzzTV Classic
- BuzzTV Media Player 1
- BuzzTV Media Player 2
- BuzzTV Modern
Enter anyone of these Home screen options and easily exit back out by going back into the Utilities menu.
*note - when using either of the two Media Player screen options, you will have to use the 'Mouse' cursor (found on the RCU) to scroll up and highlight the Settings icon/shortcut, then the OK button on the RCU to enter the Settings.
You can add shortcuts to the Home screens.
There should be seen an Add icon on each of the 4 screen options.
The Classic option also has an Add a New Category Grouping option, which is another category group seen on the Home screen, and can add shortcuts into that category grouping.
It makes for a good way to sort your shortcuts and how they can be seen on the Home screen.
Favorites
Using the 'Modern' screen option, you can save and see your favorites on the Home screen.
BuzzTV Utilities > Home Screen Rows
In the 'Rows' menu, you will find 3 options, turn these On or Off
- Live TV Favorites
- VOD Favorites
- TV Series Favorites
One of the best things about this which I found out is that while watching a LiveTV channel (or any channel) press the big 'blue' Home button on your RCU and that will take you directly to your Home screen and there (depending what you have saved), choose a saved channel and be take directly there. It is a very fast and easy way to switch between some favorite channels, or from a channel to a VOD
Only two button presses of the RCU gets you there and there is no lag along the way.
Good trick if you have some favorites saved , try it :)
Could also be a fast way of switching server slots (if a channel is saved form multiple server sots), but I have not tested that yet to see just how fast, it may take take an extra step.
Navigation Bar
BuzzTV Utilities > Enable Navigation Bar
Enabling this will show a navigation bar at the bottom of the screen used for different functions while viewing TV channels.
