Just picked a n brand new XRS 4000 and can't wait to start testing it but getting "Device not authorized" message after completing initial setup.
Any one else here with the same problem?

Reboot reboot takes a few time’s

Using the Remote press the on and off button while it in the file download..
The box will Factory Reset its self
Leave on the homepage until it asks for a reboot
then the new file will load!! (3mins or so)
do it on your own risk.

I saw this suggeston, its not it. it dosen't get to the point where its trying to download the file. This happens as soon as you go through all the initial setup screens.
This is the XRS, not the XR.

I doubt there would be any difference in the XR and the XRS with an issue like this.
If Ryu's suggestion will not work, look again at Rinny's
In Ryu's suggestion there is a Factory Default included, so do that too. The Default will then lead to a automatic reboot.

I tried what was suggested, no luck. I have an XR 4000 that these worked with but not working on my XRS.

give couple of reboots back to back and see what happens. over 7 reboots.

Tried 8 reboots, still nothing. Even tried toothpick method reset. No luck.

One thing I have found is that some will Authorize after 3-4 reboots and others will not even after 10 + reboots. Wired or wireless doesn't seem to matter. I did the tooth pick reset no love there either. Still looking for a way to get this done Without sending my MAC Address to Buzz.

OK I think this will do the trick.
Go through setup and when it starts to up date Press The Power Button Once. This will put the box in "Standby" mode. Next step very Important - Walk Away From The Box for at least 10 minutes. When you come back press the power button Once to take it out of standby and it Should Be updating. Seems like it completes the first update in standby mode and then continues on to do the System Update. I will be doing 10 boxes today and will let you know how it goes. I am also testing the Back Up & Recovery Modes

did you put the box in standby - do not choose shut down. You may have to press the power button 2x

That works 3 of of 4 times but that 4th time is kicking my a$$. Out of a case of 20 I have 5 that are tough.

I also got the invalid message but on the XR, tried a few times still did get past it, what worked for me was similar to BCWBOBs,, when I got through to Invalid message again I let it sit for about 20 min then rebooted by pulling the power wire Out then in
(10 sec) on reboot it went to Home page and started reg D/L, You have already tried a number of ways so one more should go easy,

i did put in standy by, light is red. after 13 mins, pressed power, came up with timezone and so on, at the end, same result.
AS both dishuser and I have posted contact buzztv ,tell them its a device not authorized issue,give them your mac and have them add it to their server

You may want to connect to different network and see if that works. Try to connect with neighbors or some other location.

yes of course, great to hear :) We try and get parcels sent with record time (when we can).
We have to keep up with NBS and his record delivery times for the site and it's members :)

The folks at buzz says they have fixed the bug that was causing the issue and will be on the new batches of xr4000 and xrs4000.

Went ahead and sent Buzztv the serial numbers.........

Got my XRS the other day and set it up. Go into to Server settings and install in the first box your server then load the other two settings with your donation number both are the same. And hit save .Then hit connect it should connect . Make sure you have your server ID # into the Donation checker along with your Mac address off your box it should be in the right top corner when you go into server settings. Should start with 00:1A:79 this the one that goes into your Donation checker

Got a reply from Buzztv that reiterates what NBS posted ...said they had to shut down the update server to do some maintenance ...up and running now

Yes, from my experience in loading approximately 30 boxes, when using hardwire I get the device message but while using WiFi there was no issue.

I have updated many new buzz boxes both wifi and hard wired ...never had a problem until a couple of days ago that I reported in my post....of course at the time It would not download the update wifi or hardwired because the update server was down at the time......

Same here wifi best or just email buzz in few hours all your boxes will be authorized
