What the spces say would be about it.
The XR4000 does have a steel case which helps to dissipate heat better then a plastic case. I do not know about the xpl3900
The XR box is still in testing and there are things to be improved on or changed. and therefore it would be difficult or even unfair to compare this 'test' box to any other box, other then what the specs say.

so 3900 is a box by itself cool i have that box now i know why i luv it so much buzz to me are one of best hands down
I dont see if you can add ssd drive to it for recording can you add drive to 4000 ? Now i know this box is still in testing stage was thinking it was openly sold thats why i asked question i did . And you asked who said it was so much better than the 3900? the one that asked me is it better so i asked whats wrong with asking ? My God ask question for member .

i cant see how the 4000 could be better than the 3900 the 3900 is 8 core and the 4000 is 4 core

Buzz 3900 is a MyGica Box........flashed with Buzztv Firmware........I believe it is the MyGica ATV1960 box
