So will those persons who have already linked their donation # with their mac address have to do it over? Also, what is wrong with using your full mac address for this?

It's for ID purposes, to allow stalker client and stb emu users to keep service when we go live..

That sucks. What happens when somebody makes up a MAC address that is the same as my authentic Mag box for which the Stalker software is designed for?

You must be someone who thinks that people using emulation are 'taking' something from you. The reason why they are requesting those who use emulators to use a different prefix is to avoid those situations where a psuedo MAC conflicts with those who have boxes where they can't change their MAC. The chance of someone replicating your MAC is roughly 16777216 to 1 (16 to the 6th power), and even if there is a conflict, the server operators will just require you to provide proof that its your number by taking a picture of the label with the MAC, and then you are good.

this is pretty huge news :D yall are so calm but this is huge !
edit:
one thing id like to know as this further develops is, is it going to be easy to say switch your account if you later choose to buy avov or mag254.

Sure go to the donation page and then update your mac from whatever unit to the donation but one mac per donation at one time

When I use the recommended setting of 78 instead of 79 along with my normal last 6 digits I get a Stalker Client Failed error immediately upon channels attempting to load. When I reset to 79 it loads normally. About 2 minutes and a half slower than it did 3 weeks ago for channels and importing EPG but it eventually loads. Android MXQ Set Top Box. Any clues on this behavior. Also I am for the 1st time starting yesterday getting serious buffering on a lot of channels. I still have 0.6b Stalker Client because all the others including 0.8 standalone and prepacked Kodi versions were giving me fits. Thanks for any insight anyone may have into my issue.

I have the same issue, tried changing from 79 to 78 but I get the stalker client failed error. And I have my rocket donation linked to the 79 MAC address. Maybe we will have to switch our MACs to 78 once they go private.
Can someone confirm this?
Thanks
