Ryan Blaney loves Pocono Raceway. After winning last June's race in Pennsylvania, the 24-year-old took home the pole Friday with a lap of 50.877 seconds.

Blaney beat out Kevin Harvick (second) and Kyle Busch (fifth), who were extremely close behind and also ran sub-51 second laps.

"We made a great, great change before the last round to figure out what we need," Blaney told Fox Sports 2 after his run. "I didn't hit Turn 1 very good my first two rounds and finally figured out a better way to get through there and it helped us out a lot with the changes."

This is the fourth pole Blaney has won in his career.

Elsewhere on the track, Aric Almirola had a disappointing day. He had a tough first run in the first round of qualifying and was slow getting out for his second. Consequently, he missed his opportunity to run a second time and will start 34th.

Martin Truex Jr. will start fourth while Kurt Busch will start sixth.

The Pocono 400 is scheduled for 2 p.m. Sunday on Fox Sports 1.

Kyle B made another milestone today.
To match his recent record of a victory at every track in the Monster Cup series, he now has tallied up a win at every Xfinity track !
Kyle B started at the front with team-mate Bell and kept the lead till Stage 1 manatory caution, where he gots a speeding penalty on pit row:eek:
Bell did too!
They both went to the back of the pack for the beginning of restart at Stage 2
Within just a few laps Busch was up into 15th and Bell was with him.... then 12th then 8th.... and with 40 laps remaining, he was back out front and cruised for a win.

It was funny cause the drivers knew Kyle would be back up front soon enough, so they were a scrambling to get best possible track position and strategies while Kyle was way at the back.
The chatter on the radios was comical knowing full well there was only a certain amount of time before the #18 was back battling the leaders :)

I was watching all weekend and I would not have picked Larson for this race. He is timid at this track..I know ,that is not like a Larson attitude but he always has trouble at this track with his lap consistency.
But he is Larson and that guy can drive :)
