(requires a playcorefactory.xml file setup in the userdata folder)

Highlight a program from the EPG or Channel list.
Right click or bring up the Context menu and select "Plays from" and "VLC External Player"(program path specified in the xml file)
Program starts playing in external window.
Click Record
