I just got this box and it has a KD PLAYER install and it looks like KODI.
When I go to Google Play I can't download KODI 17.6, is that because the
KD player takes it's place?????

That KD Player is stopping you, yes
That KD Player is not Kodi or tied to Kodi in anyway, with some Kodi users calling the KD a rip-off of Kodi

You would need to uninstall that Player in order to install any version of Kodi

It probably will work the same as Kodi, but I would get rid of it and get the real thing. KD Player my not get updated, could have spyware or other crap in it, etc.. It's just best to go with the real thing.

I just bought a W95 Box and it came with an app called Qodi, which is their version of Kodi. Like you I could not install Kodi until I uninstalled Qodi. Once uninstalled I had no issues putting the real thing on there.

I just bought the Leelbox Q3 and it had the KD app. It looked and played as Kodi 17.? and I do not like this version of Kodi so I removed the app and installed the version of KODI I like and it installed just like it should. The Android menu still said KD Play but had the Kodi version I installed logo when starting. Seems that this is an attempt to disguise KODI for what ever reason this Chinese builder wants.
