Independence Day 2:

The Aliens are back and so is Jeff Goldblum and the lead role to Liam Hemsworth. Charlotte Gainsbourg was in talks to join the film's cast. Newcomer Travis Tope was set on March 25, 2015 to reprise the role of Charlie. On March 3, 2015, director Emmerich confirmed via Twitter about the returning of Vivica A. Fox to play her previous film's role, Jasmine Dubrow. Same day, Jessie Usher was added to the cast to portray the role of the son of Smith's character. Jeff Goldblum and Bill Pullman were also set to reprise their original roles from the previous film. Maika Monroe signed on to star in the film on April 27, 2015. Sela Ward's casting as the new President of the United States (successor to Bill Pullman's character in the original film) was confirmed on May 4, 2015. On May 19, 2015, Patrick St. Esprit was cast as Secretary of Defense Tanner..

Conan The Legend:

Chris Morgan, the co-writer and producer of the new flick, says The Legend of Conan will be a direct sequel to the original Conan the Barbarian movie from 1982. This means it will bypass the 1984 sequel Conan The Destroyer, as well as completely ignoring the 2011 remake starring Jason Momoa. Arnold Schwarzenegger will reprise the roll of Conan 20 years after the initial movie.

Beetlejuice 2:

Yes one of my favorite movies of all time is coming back, with Winona Ryder, Michael Keaton and Director Tim Burton. However, although Winona Ryder is lined up to return as the grown-up Lydia Deetz, after so many years, it goes without saying that Alec Baldwin and Geena Davis won’t be reprising their roles as the Maitlands from the original Beetlejuice (since, as Davis once pointed out, ghosts don’t age).

Point Break:

Luke Bracey is set to portray the role previously played by Keanu Reeves. Ray Winstone is set to take on the role played by Gary Busey in the original. Gerard Butler was initially in negotiations to play Bodhi, the role Patrick Swayze played, but later, negotiations with Butler fell through. Edgar Ramirez will play the lead as Bodhi.

Scarface:

Director Pablo LarraÃ*n, fresh off winning the Berlin International Film Festival's Jury Grand Prix for his film The Club, will helm the remake, which will transplant the story to the present-day criminal underworld of Los Angeles (the 1932 and 1983 versions took place in Chicago and Miami, respectively).

Escape from New York:

A lot of people's favorite movie of all time is coming back, The original John Carpenter-directed film depicts a bleak futuristic world in which Manhattan has been converted into a maximum-security prison. Kurt Russell starred as Snake Plissken, a former soldier who was assigned to rescue the president after Air Force One crashes in New York. If he rescues the president, he saves the world. If he fails, he will explode. In the 34 years since the film was released, it has become a cult classic. The one problem with the original: It was set in 1997 – futuristic for 1981, but now outdated for modern audiences.

Gambit:

The character of Gambit (real name: Remy LeBeau) was introduced in Fox’s first attempt at an X-Men solo character spinoff, X-Men Origins: Wolverine, but the creative team let fans down by ignoring some of the most iconic and interesting traits of the character – most notably, his unique Cajun accent. That version of Gambit was played by Taylor Kitsch but it’s clear that going forward, the studio is pretending that movie didn’t happen. Starring Channing Tatum which in my personal opinion sucks because Tayler played Gambit better. Best Xmen super hero!!!

X-Men Apocalypse:

It is the sequel to 2014's X-Men: Days of Future Past and the ninth installment in the X-Men film series. Directed by Bryan Singer, with a screenplay by Simon Kinberg from a story conceived by Dan Harris, Michael Dougherty, Kinberg and Singer, the film will star James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence, Nicholas Hoult, Oscar Isaac, Rose Byrne, Tye Sheridan, Sophie Turner, Alexandra Shipp, Kodi Smit-McPhee, Evan Peters, Lucas Till, Ben Hardy, Lana Condor and Olivia Munn.

‘Halloween’ Franchise Getting a Reboot

Fans of Michael Myers and the "Halloween" movie franchise originally created by John Carpenter in 1978 will get a new take on the series with a reboot officially in the works, according to MovieHole.

News of this new venture in the franchise follows a successful reboot run by legendary shock-rocker Rob Zombie ("House of 1000 Corpses," "The Devils Rejects") who remade the franchise's first and subsequent sequel.

The article refers to this reboot as a continuation of the original carnage created by the sociopathic killer known as Michael Myers, who returns to Haddonfield to terrorize a new generation of kids and teenagers. This project is classified as a standalone return to the franchise and is meant to be a reintroduction to the franchise's flagship terror.
The film will be titled "Halloween Returns" and will feature characters that are in some way related to the original victims of Myers, supposedly in previous films. The explanation given on the website tells of a child, who is now 18-years-old, whose parent(s) were victims of Myers at some point. This teen will play a central role in the plot of the film and may in some way be seeking out vengeance.

The teen will partner with another teen, but this one the offspring of a cop who had at one time was heavily obsessed with the Myers case. This child was neglected by her father due to this case, so there may be vengeance on both of their minds that could eventually fill out the plot of this upcoming film.

There is also a plot in the story that has never been done on a "Halloween" franchise film. In this particular situation, Myers is now in captivity and sits on death row. But, when it comes time to end his life, things go wrong. This eventually leads to Myers escape and the pursuit begins there by the two teens who had snuck in to view Myers execution.

That 'Jumanji' Remake Officially Has A Release Date

On Wednesday, Sony Pictures released its film slate through 2019 with release dates for 16 new films, including the new "Jumanji," "Bad Boys 3" and "4," and a new date for Paul Feig's "Ghostbusters." News of a "Jumanji" remake first broke in 2012 when Sony announced plans to update the Robin Williams fantasy film for the present. Now you can expect to see a modern revamp of the movie on Christmas Day in 2016 -- here's to hoping they release an updated version of the board game as well.

Ridley Scott details opening scene of Blade Runner sequel

In between promoting The Martian and hedging questions about Alien: Covenant, director Ridley Scott took a moment to outline how his sequel to Blade Runner would begin.

Talking to a group of people at AFI Film Fest, and transcribed by JoBlo, Scott went into quite a bit of detail about the upcoming sequel, painting the picture of the film's first five minutes or so.

If you're in the business of avoiding spoilers, consider this your official warning.

According to Scott, the film will begin with establishing shots of a flat, picturesque farm space, akin to the rural lands of Wyoming. In the distance lies a large, dead tree being held up by a system of intricate wires, which Scott said won't be unlike imagery found within John Steinbeck's classic novel, Grapes of Wrath.

In the midst of the almost artificial quiet, Scott explained that the first bit of movement will focus on a spinner (a flying car) landing on the base of the property.

"Of course, traditionally chased by a dog that barks, the doors open, a guy gets out and there you've got Rick Deckard (Harrison Ford)," Scott said. "He walks in the cottage, opens the door, sits down, smells stew, sits down and waits for the guy to pull up to the house to arrive."

Scott ended the segment of the talk by acknowledging the unknown man, who's quite large, definitely approaches Deckard, but wouldn't reveal anything else about the scene. Whether or not he's a friend or foe will remain a secret until the movie is released.

Harrison Ford is back for the sequel, reprising his role from more than 30 years ago, with Ryan Gosling officially on-board to co-star.

There's currently no word on when the film will be released.

Prometheus 2 is Officially Alien: Covenant; Gets Release Date & Synopsis

Director Ridley Scott surprised many recently when he referred to his next project – the sequel to his Alien quasi-prequel/spinoff, Prometheus – as being titled Alien: Covenant, after having referred to the film as Alien: Paradise Lost on multiple previous occasions. Fortunately, we need not speculate any further, as it’s now official: the next chapter in a planned Prometheus film trilogy shall indeed be called Alien: Covenant, with principal photography slated to get underway around the first quarter of 2016 for a 2017 release date.

So far, the only confirmed cast member for Alien: Covenant is Michael Fassbender, who will reprise as the android David – one of only two survivors from the original Prometheus expedition, along with the human scientist Elizabeth Shaw (Noomi Rapace). However, judging by the newly-released synopsis for the film, it would appear that Covenant doesn’t immediately pick back up with Shaw, at the beginning of its story.

Ridley Scott returns to the universe he created in ALIEN with ALIEN: COVENANT, the second chapter in a prequel trilogy that began with PROMETHEUS — and connects directly to Scott’s 1979 seminal work of science fiction. Bound for a remote planet on the far side of the galaxy, the crew of the colony ship Covenant discovers what they think is an uncharted paradise, but is actually a dark, dangerous world — whose sole inhabitant is the “synthetic� David (Michael Fassbender), survivor of the doomed Prometheus expedition.

Rapace had indicated in the past that she would return for the Prometheus sequel, but the project has evolved a fair amount over the course of the past year – having most recently undergone a rewrite by Oscar-nominee John Logan (Gladiator, Spectre) – and Shaw’s role has no doubt changed with it.

Nevertheless, Scott has recently indicated that Covenant will bring both David and Elizabeth back into the equation – seeing as the pair were essentially stuck with one another at the end of Prometheus – but only after the movie’s initial act introduces the crew of the ship Covenant. This also explains recent reports that Covenant will feature a brand-new female lead (maybe the Covenant’s captain?), with such rising stars as Rebecca Ferguson (Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation) having been considered at one point or another, to play the role.

Scott has already confirmed that Alien: Covenant will both reveal the home-world of the Engineers – those mysterious extraterrestrials from Prometheus who helped to create humankind – and shed more light on, exactly, how the terrible Alien Xenomorph came to be. The film should also continue with the creator/creation thematic motif of Prometheus, while at the same time telling a sci-fi movie narrative featuring overt religious subtext and/or overtones (as subtitles like Paradise Lost and Covenant suggest it will), like its predecessor.

The confusing connections between Prometheus and Alien were among the former’s most controversial elements, though many were also critical of how Scott’s Alien prequel/spinoff relies on formulaic horror movie tropes and character types in order to explore its big ideas. However, now that Scott appears to have a firmer idea of where he’s going with the Prometheus trilogy and how it will link to Alien, perhaps Covenant will prove less divisive than its predecessor did.

As for Alien: Covenant‘s October 6th, 2017 release date: Scott and Fox struck gold (both critically and financially) with the space adventure The Martian in October of this year, so clearly the studio is hoping that lightning strikes twice with Covenant.

Val Kilmer Backtracks on 'Top Gun 2' Claim

Val Kilmer created a commotion online Tuesday with a Facebook post declaring that he would reprise his role of Iceman in Top Gun 2. "Let's fire up some fighter jets again!!!" he wrote. Hours later, he said he "jumped the top gun" with the announcement. "Being offered a role is very different from doing a role," he wrote in his update. "[It's] an innocent mistake. It was just such a wonderful phone call with my agent."

Kilmer's original post was very confusing. "I just got offered Top Gun 2 - not often you get to say 'yes' without reading the script," he wrote. Then, making matters worse, he gave examples of other things he'd say "yes" to – a movie starring Gene Hackman, a film helmed by Francis Ford Coppola – but written in a way that suggested they were attached to the Top Gun sequel. Later, he posted another update clarifying that he used Coppola and Hackman only as examples and apologizing for misleading people.

Cruise, whom Kilmer mentioned in his original post, has not publicly accepted a role in the sequel. Nevertheless, the CEO of the production company handling the film said this past summer that, "There is no Top Gun without Maverick," referring to Cruise's character and thus hinting the actor would be onboard. Cruise has expressed optimism about the proposed film. "It would be fun," he told Reuters in July. "I would like to get back into those jets."

Kilmer closed his update by honoring original Top Gun director Tony Scott. "We will all miss Tony Scott, one of the kindest gentlemen I've ever met in the film biz, but let's fire up some fighter jets again!!!" The filmmaker, who is Ridley Scott's brother and who also helmed Days of Thunder and True Romance, died of an apparent suicide in 2012.

Plot details for Top Gun 2 were revealed earlier this year, with Tom Cruise's Maverick character hunting down drones in the film, which will be set in the present and account for the three decades between installments. Justin Marks, who wrote Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li and next year's Jon Favreau–directed adaptation of Disney's The Jungle Book, is handling the script.

"It is very much a world we live in today where it's drone technology, and fifth-generation fighters are really what the United States Navy is calling the last man-made fighter that we're actually going to produce, so it's really [about] exploring the 'end of an era' of dogfighting and fighter pilots and what that culture is today," Skydance Productions chief David Ellison said during a junket for another film. The producer added that he hoped to make the film in IMAX and 3-D and that it would downplay digital effects.

Cruise echoed that last stipulation in his Reuters interview. "I don't want any CGI jets," he said. "I want to shoot it like how we shot the first one."

‘Jeepers Creepers 3’ Spoilers 2016: 3 Latest Scoops About the Much-Anticipated Winged Creeper Sequel

After almost half a decade of silence, the long-in-the-works "Jeepers Creepers 3" movie will reportedly begin filming this year.

Ever since the announcement of Myriad Pictures to fund Victor Salva's cult horror movie series last September, fans have been clamoring for production updates and spoilers as the movie's iconic villain is set to return for another 23-day feeding frenzy.

While production updates have previously remain elusive, latest reports about the upcoming third sequel of the mythical cornfield creature's saga hinted that there's some hope it may be happening soon.

The "Jeepers Creepers" film franchise attracted a solid movie fanbase following their creepy depiction of its iconic villain known as "The Creeper," who goes hunting for 23 days every 23rd spring for human body parts and organs. Now, the hype for the movie returns as full production commence this 2016.

So, here are 3 latest scoops we've learned so far about the much-anticipated winged creeper sequel.

1. "Jeepers Creepers 3" Plot

"Jeepers Creepers 3 will show events on the last day of the Creeper's twenty-three day feeding frenzy, as the skeptical Sergent Tubbs teams up with a task force hellbent on destroying the Creeper for good," the synopsis of the movie read, as per Bloody-Disgusting. "The Creeper fights back in gory glory as its enemies grow closer than ever before to learning the secret of its dark origins."

Salva, who both wrote and directed the first two installments, also promised fans for a "terrifying new chapter."

"What will go before cameras as 'Jeepers Creepers 3' is a new and terrifying chapter from the Jeepers universe," Salva said. "We are bringing back the Creeper's truck, and will be addressing the big questions about The Creeper: what it is, where it came from and why it does what it does.

2. "Jeepers Creepers" Creative Team

The upcoming installment reunites the original creative team behind the first two films, which grossed a combine $120 million at the global box office. According to Dread Central, writer-director Salva will be back at the helm while Francis Ford Coppola's American Zoetrope, which produced the first two films, will co-produce together with Kirk Shaw and Surai Gohill's Odyssey Media and Stan Spry's The Cartel.

Coppola, Shaw and Spry will serve as producers. Myriad's Kirk D'Amico, on the other hand, will be the film's executive producer.

3. "Jeepers Creepers 3" Cast

Jonathan Breck will reprise his role as the Creeper, Movie Pilot revealed. Breck will be joined by Brandon Smith as Sergeant Davis Tubbs. The film is reportedly in active development with production, which expected to launch in Vancouver this year.

In line with the latest updates on the film, there are also rumors that the script for the upcoming film sequel has been leaked. According to one of the comments on the Bloody-Disgusting article, the script was titled "Cathedral" and the sister from the first film as well as the father from the second installment were reportedly returning.

What's more interesting was the claim about the appearance of a SWAT team on the film. However, the commenter said the script was not "good."

Meanwhile, Salva's "Jeepers Creeper 3" first sales artwork will be making its way to the European Film Market in Berlin on Feb. 11 to 19, Horror-Movies has learned. Myriad Pictures will finance and handle international sales for the long-awaited third installment of the horror franchise.

No release date for "Jeepers Creepers 3" has been announced yet. However, rumors have it the sequel might hit theaters sometime in 2017.

Remake of SPAWN

Following the release the first theatrical attempt to capture the essence of the character and franchise in 1997, Spawn comic book series creator and seminal comic book writer and artist Todd McFarlane has been pushing hard in recent years to get production of a Spawn film reboot off the ground at last. With a finished script in hand, McFarlane hopes to see the new movie financed on a modest budget – as he appears primed to make good on past promises to bring back the cult-classic character to the big screen as the project’s directopr.

After the relative box office success lauded onto the original Spawn film starring Michael Jai White, casting the new reboot will obviously be of major importance, especially when considering the seemingly unprecedented success of Image Comics’ associated property that is Deadpool. But the latest word from McFarlane has it that the script has finally been paired down from an initial 183 pages, and casting my soon get underway.

In the below video initially posted on his personal Facebook account, McFarlane brings up the edited script for the Spawn reboot on his computer screen in Final Draft, where viewers can clearly see that the writer is on his way down to a more cinematically digestible 120 pages, with the document in question currently standing at 132 pages. After waxing ambitious for a couple of minutes about his writing process and the state of the film industry, McFarlane states that he plans on having his draft reviewed by a few people, seeing at least two potential actors to star in said production, and announce who his official financiers will be.

Given the history of the character on film and TV, and especially considering the rather dated effect that the Spawn film from 1997 has had on the property, McFarlane might be taking on too much too soon, and potentially building hopes for the movie too high. Sight unseen, it’s hard to take McFarlane at his hyperbolic word, though he might yet surprise everyone – and produce a film to rival director Tim Miller’s inspired cinematic reinvention of Wade Wilson.

For now, fans of McFarlane’s infamous anti-hero will have to wait from further word regarding the impending reboot from the man himself. Based on appearances alone, it would seem as though the Spawn reboot may finally happen – and given McFarlane’s exuberance and undeniable passion for the project going forward, things might just work the second time around for the comic book property on the big screen.

Hellraiser - Judgement

We’ve learned quite a bit over the past month, including that special effects artist Gary Tunnicliffe (who worked on several of the Hellraiser films) was behind the camera on Hellraiser: Judgment for Dimension Films, and that Paul T. Taylor is your new Pinhead. We’ve also discovered a heavy portion of the cast: Damon Carney, Randy Wayne, Alexandra Harris, John Gulagher, Mike Jay Regan, Diane Goldner, Andi Powers, Jeff Fenter, Helena Grace Donald, and Grace Montie.

The biggest question mark, however, was how Tunnicliffe’s Judgment screenplay fit into the world created by Clive Barker all of those years ago. I had originally thought that Judgment was a stand alone project, while Tunnicliffe tells us it was the other way around:

“Judgment was always a Hellraiser project (concept), but I didn’t think I would have a shot at directing a Hellraiser movie,” he explained, “so I removed the Hellraiser elements and tried to get Judgment made independently. I met with several producers but they found the material SO outlandish and disturbing they always balked…and usually asked if I would instead be interested in directing a movie about some teens being chased by a masked killer (yawn).

“Some friends suggested I try Kickstarter…we put the site up and then I was told I had to contact everyone on my email list basically ‘begging’ for money…it didn’t sit well with me, so I decided to pull it,” he continues. “I only ever had a pitch, no script was ever written; Revelations was very much a traditional Hellraiser tale with a lot of ‘nods’ to the original and I got reamed for that, so I figured I would ‘swing for the fences’ and make Judgment.”

On how Judgment will fit into the Hellraiser universe:

“This is very much a Hellraiser movie connected at the very core. It wasn’t a script that was adapted in anyway; this script was conceived, written and re-written as a Hellraiser movie. It is different from Hellraiser movies before, since it involves a new mechanism in conjunction with the box for the gathering of souls, and that introduces us to these new characters. But it still very much operates within the mythos of a ‘world within our world’ that I have always felt is the mainstay of Clive’s (Barker) work.”

Speaking of new characters, not all of the cool new creations are Cenobites.

“Actually some of the characters aren’t really ‘Cenobites’ per se – they aren’t the members of the ‘order of the gash’ we are used to,” he explained, revealing some of the new plot. “I don’t want to say too much at this point but we discover that Hell actually has several factions and all have different looks. The Cenobites we have in the movie (Pinhead, Chatterer and the Stitch Twins) are the ‘sharp end of the spear,’ so to speak.”

We’ve been advocating that Pinhead isn’t necessary in making a good Hellraiser movie. Tunnicliffe compares him to the special sauce on a burger.

“I think Pinhead has undoubtedly become the face and centerpiece of the franchise, but I think it’s foolish to let him try to carry the franchise or a movie on his own. To me he’s the special sauce on a great burger; too much special sauce and it makes you sick, not enough and you’re left wanting more.

“What I can reveal is this is a very no nonsense Pinhead,” he continues, “no glib one-liners, he’s a little leaner and a little meaner. We especially tried to incorporate this into the make-up and costume; the cuts are deeper, the pins a little longer, his eyes are completely black and wardrobe is a little sleeker and more visceral. Someone on set described him as the ‘bad ass’ version of Pinhead. Paul (Taylor) certainly relished the role and gave him an icy demeanor.”

In regards to make-up and special effects, Tunnicliffe talks about balancing both directing and overseeing the FX work.

“It’s tricky. It’s even trickier when you write, direct, handle the make-up FX, key props and character costumes! The trick, I think, is to have a great team and amazing support. I had that from both the FX crew that I bought from LA (Mike Regan, Mike Measimer and Adrienne Lynn Booth) and from the incredible shooting crew in Oklahoma…they all worked above and beyond my expectations and were always understanding when I grabbed a brush and joined in or ‘tweaked’ stuff.

The make-up effects and gore were so much, at times, that one of the leads almost passed out.

“Our lead actress almost passed out during one particularly traumatic scene,” he revealed. “Three people left set during one sequence because they were going to throw up (my DP Sam made the strangest noise I have ever heard from a human being with an expression of panic/joy/revulsion) during one of the ‘Cleaner’ sequences.

“I don’t think it’s so much the quantity of blood (or whatever fluid you’re mimicking) but more the nature of the effects, the content and the context. I think some of our blood gags are actually quite beautiful; when you see blood raining down on a naked girl with a skinned face at 300 frames per second you can’t help but be mesmerized by the fluid dynamics.”

As cool as everything sounds, the hardest question to ask was about the perception of the Hellraiser franchise, which has become about rights issues and rushing sequels into production. Tunnicliffe was incredibly candid, talking to the internal dialogue at Dimension, and how Judgment is very different.

“I think there has been a huge gap since Dimension are actually trying to do their best by the franchise,” he stated when asked about the time between each Hellraiser film. “You know everyone sticks it to those guys for the poorer quality sequels but there isn’t any magic formula for making great horror films. If there were, everyone would be making amazing horror flicks, right?! I think [The Weinstein Company is] well aware that Hellworld was rushed into production and suffered for it, and Revelations suffered a similar set of problems (when the rights issue came up fast and furious without anyone knowing). [Revelations] was very much a ‘band-aid’ or field dressing.

Speaking frankly: “Judgment IS a rights issue movie, but has been made with the sensibilities and input given to a regular budgeted Dimension feature. The executives (all the way to the very TOP of Dimension) and producers involved didn’t just say, “Bang this out”; there was an intense development stage, several re-writes and amazing input and guidance on casting, etc. Initially I pitched two concepts: Hellraiser: Judgment and a second idea called Hellraiser: Enter Darkness (I still love that title!). The latter of which was a much more linear, ‘Hollywood’-style horror movie. Blade Runner Sequel Release Date Pushed Up To October 2017

Alcon Entertainment that the release date for the Blade Runner sequel been moved up to October 6, 2017. It was originally scheduled to hit theaters on January 12, 2018.

The Blade Runner sequel will star Ryan Gosling, Harrison Ford, Robin Wright and Dave Bautista. The film is being directed by Denis Villeneuve, who made Sicario and Prisoners. Ridley Scott will be an executive producer on the sequel. The screenplay was written by Hampton Fancher and Michael Green. Fancher and David Peoples wrote the story for the original film. Roger Deakins will photograph the film.

Blade Runner 2 is set decades after the 1982 original. The film is written by Hampton Fancher and Michael Green, and succeeds the initial story by Fancher and David Peoples based on Philip K. Dick’s novel “Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?”. Story details have not been revealed

Blade Runner was based on Philip K. Dick’s novel Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?, which was published in 1968. Ford played an ex-cop who tracked down escaped replicants, which were genetically engineered by the sheriff on HBO’s True Blood in such detail that they had individual childhood memories.

Blade Runner was selected for preservation in the U.S. National Film Registry by the Library of Congress in 1993.

Principal photography is scheduled to begin this July.

Warner Bros. announced the cinematic adaptation of Stephen King’s 1986 novel has been set for a Sept. 8, 2017 release date. Production is eyeing a late June start on the planned two-film project from Mama director Andy Muschietti, according to a source close to the project.

Interview with the Vampire Remake Script Is Finished

Way back in the summer of 2014, Universal Pictures acquired the rights to author Anne Rice's entire The Vampire Chronicles novel series, including Interview With the Vampire, Queen of the Damned and The Vampire Lestat. A few weeks later, the studio brought on The Fault in our Stars filmmaker Josh Boone to write and direct an adaptation entitled The Vampire Chronicles, which would be based on Queen of the Damned and The Vampire Lestat. It seems the focus of this project has changed a bit, with Josh Boone recently revealing the title page of his script for a remake of Interview with the Vampire.

The filmmaker posted this photo of the script title page to his Instagram account last week, which revealed the title is in fact Interview With the Vampire, which will be based on the book of the same name, and The Vampire Lestat. The filmmaker co-wrote the script with Jill Killington, who both wrote the script for Katie Holmes' directorial debut, All I Had, which hit theaters last month. The script was dated April 2016, so we'll have to see how the studio responds to this fresh rewrite.

Interview With the Vampire was adapted into the hit 1994 movie of the same name, starring Tom Cruise as Lestat de Lioncourt, who turns a downtrodden plantation owner named Louis de Pointe du Lac (Brad Pitt) into a vampire, after Louis lost his wife. The movie grossed $105.4 million domestically and $223.6 million worldwide, from a $60 million budget. Eight years later, Queen of the Damned was adapted to the big screen, starring Aaliyah as the title character, Akasha, with Stuart Townsend playing Lestat. The movie fared much worse than Interview With the Vampire, taking in $30.3 million domestically and $45 million worldwide, from a $35 million budget.

Our report from 2014 revealed that Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci are producing for Universal, alongside Imagine Entertainment's Brian Grazer. What remains to be seen is if this project will become part of Universal's monster franchise, which Alex Kurtzman is overseeing with Chris Morgan. The monster franchise wasn't even in the works in 2014, it seems impossible to imagine Anne Rice's characters crossing over with Universal's classic monsters, especially since Tom Cruise, who played Lestat in the original Interview With the Vampire, is starring in the Mummy reboot. It's also worth noting that Robert Downey Jr. was rumored to take over the Lestat character back in 2009.

It isn't known if Josh Boone is still planning to direct this movie, since he is also attached to two other high-profile projects. The filmmaker is attached to both write and direct The Stand for Warner Bros. and The New Mutants for 20th Century Fox, but it isn't known when filming will begin on either of those projects. We'll keep you posted as soon as more details for Interview With the Vampire surface, so stay tuned

Never Say Never: John Carpenter to Return for the Next Halloween Film!!

If this were the first of April I would have simply disregarded the GREAT news I read earlier this morning but being that it is not, my hopes for the next Halloween film are higher than they have been in years!

Several credible websites are reporting that none other than John Carpenter (director of the original Halloween) will return as executive producer for the franchise’s upcoming tenth film.

“38 years after the original Halloween, “I’m going to help to try to make the 10th sequel the scariest of them all” John Carpenter states.

Malek Akkad had this to say: “Trancas International is thrilled to be teaming up with Miramax on ‘Halloween,’ one of the most enduring horror franchises in film” “We are also very excited to be working with Jason Blum and the whole team at Blumhouse. Together, along with the return of legendary filmmaker John Carpenter, we are eager to make a film that will be a milestone in the franchise’s legacy and that will excite the fans, young and old.”

The exciting announcement was made at the Blumhouse Productions in Los Angeles last night. Blumhouse productions will be teaming up with Trancas International, and Mirimax and the trio will co finance the production. Malek Akkad and Jason Blum will also co produce.

Though not official yet, Jason Blum stated at the announcement of this event that he also wants Carpenter to also score the new film.

The next film in the Halloween franchise is starting to look special indeed!

Prometheus’ sequel in the making; To be renamed as ‘Alien: Covenant’

Who knew that "Prometheus" was actually a prequel of the iconic "Alien" franchise? Well, a lot of people did, especially the fans. It was actually hard to figure out the connections between the classic series that starred Sigourney Weaver and 2012 sci-fi thriller, other than Ridley Scott directing them and the xenomorph-like creature at the end of the movie (plus, a few hints from the internet and such). But this time, a sequel is said to be in the making which may provide numerous links between the two movie franchises.

Being revealed in the reviews (and in the internet as previously mentioned), the movie "Prometheus" is said to be part of a three-film prequel to the "Alien" series. Games Radar did mention that in spite of audience still grasping over the plot of the movie, the sci-fi thriller actually grossed $404 million in the box office. This actually sounds for a sequel! This was apparently a result of the success of the first movie that made director Ridley Scott go for a prequel trilogy as he previously planned.

However, the movie will not be called "Prometheus 2" anymore. It's probably because the director will be tying in many elements of the classic "Alien" series with the second movie of prequel trilogy. With pre-production and initial filming work being in progress, the movie will be now called "Alien: Covenant."

Director Ridley Scott also plans to take it up a notch in production early next year since he wants to have everything done before the end of spring. As much as possible, he plans to try to release the movie by summer, as stated by Cheat Sheet.

Scott also drops hints of the upcoming movie that will star Michael Fassbender as the synthetic David once more. In this movie, David will be encountered by a crew of a ship called the Covenant in a remote planet. Unbeknownst to them, the planet will also hold a new xenomorph alien, waiting for its chance snatch its prey.

Despite rumors of Ridley Scott confirming that Noomi Rapace will not be reprising her role of Dr. Elizabeth Shaw from "Prometheus," there were rumors that the actress was spotted in Australia during the shooting of "Alien: Covenant."

New cast members for the sequel reportedly include Katherine Waterston, Billy Crudup, Danny McBride, and Demian Bichir, to name a few.



Originally, "Alien: Covenant" was set to be released on Oct. 6, 2017, but plans changed for the movie to be released earlier on Aug. 4, 2017.

BLADE RUNNER 2 Gets Official Title, Setting, and Promo Pic

Blade Runner is a movie entirely about subtlety, hidden meaning, and exploring the themes of existence (if you’re not watching the theatrical cut, that is) and for the past 34 years, we’ve been left wondering what other, richer themes could be explored in a future world full of replicants. Next year, we’ll get our answer in Denis Villeneuve‘s vision of the future, and we now know not only what the movie will be called but the exact year in which it will be set in a real two-tears-with-one-raindrop situation: Blade Runner 2049, which puts it exactly 30 years after the original.

While that’s not a ton of new information, it does give us a few ideas we can extrapolate; for example, this means Harrison Ford‘s Rick Deckard who will be appearing in the movie is 30 years older. If he is indeed a replicant himself–something that has been a mystery since the director’s cut–then that means he, or someone else, has figured a way to extend the life of a replicant, which is exactly what the late Roy Batty (Rutger Hauer) wanted and was the reason Deckard got dispatched in the first place. And if he doesn’t end up being a replicant, then we can imagine Rachael (Sean Young) perished long ago and he’s been living in seclusion alone since.

At any rate, that’s all speculation. What we do know is that Ford will be reprising his role and that Ryan Gosling will be the star in some capacity. In a way to bridge the gap, as it were, Warner Bros. released a promotional still of Gosling, Ford, Villeneuve, and original Blade Runner director Ridley Scott, who will also serve as producer on Blade Runner 2049.

We’ve been knocked out by all of Villeneuve’s films to date (Sicario, Prisoners, Enemy) and we just saw Arrival and flipped for it. So having Villeneuve at the helm of a sequel to such a distinctive vision of the future–along with a script by original film writer Hampton Fancher and American Gods creator Michael Green–has us beyond stoked for seeing more androids dream of electric sheep.

ESCAPE FROM NEW YORK


John Carpenter’s 1981 classic Escape From New York is getting the remake treatment from Fox and Studiocanal, which is not a sentence I’m excited to type, but at least John Carpenter is an executive producer, and they tapped Neil Cross, the creator of BBC’s Luther starring Idris Elba, to pen the script, so at least something is going right. And now we finally know more about the changes made in the Escape From New York remake, according to ten story details revealed by The Wrap.

A couple of the biggest changes are that Manhattan isn’t a maximum security prison in the remake, and Snake Plissken isn’t saving the President of the United States in this one. Rather, he’s capturing a playboy heir named Thomas Newton in an artificial-intelligence controlled, drone-filled Manhattan. In other words, this Manhattan sounds more like a gated community, a prison of their own making. Newton is standing in for the Duke of New York as the movie’s villain.

We also finally find out Snake Plissken’s real first name.

His full name in the script is Colonel Robert “Snake� Plissken. Yeah, Snake is definitely a cooler name. Stick with that.

The film will also include an opening scene similar to the one deleted from the original film, in which Plissken is captured while robbing a bank. Other changes include a gender-swapped version of the CIA Deputy Executive Director originally played by Lee Van Cleef, and Plissken’s mission will be complicated by the Hurricane that is en route to New York City.

Jigsaw Will Return in Saw: Legacy

Jigsaw is back, baby! Yes, it has been confirmed that Tobin Bell will reprise his role as the infamous serial killer with a game to play in this year's Halloween release Saw Legacy. But don't expect him to dominate the movie, as the actor is only expected to be back in a limited capacity.

When it first arrived over 14 years ago, Saw was considered a groundbreaking film in the horror genre. And it spawned 6 sequels, bringing the saga to an end in 2010. For seven years, it was a Halloween tradition. That tradition returns this October 27 with an all-new installment of the iconic series. But what is this next chapter about? And is it a sequel or a reboot?

Bloody Disgusting has the answer with exclusive new plot details and the confirmation that Tobin Bell will be crawling out of that proverbial grave at least one more time to torture a few well-deserving individuals.

Up until this point, plot details have been kept mum. Except a few set photos did reveal that there will at least be some grave robbing going down in the opening moments of this next installment. Now we know that Saw 8 opens with bodies turning up all over the city. Each corpse has met their own unique demise. An investigation gets underway. And all fingers point to John Kramer, aka Jigsaw.

But how can this be? Jigsaw has been dead for more than a decade. The belief is that an apprentice has stepped in to pick up the mantle left behind by Kramer. And the clues may lead to someone embedded within the investigation.

Neither Costas Mandylor nor Cary Elwes, both exposed as Kramer apprentices in past installments, are returning for Legacy. The new cast includes Mandela Van Peebles, Hannah Anderson, Laura Vandervoort, Brittany Allen, Callum Keith Rennie, Matt Passmore, Hannah Emily Anderson, Josiah Black, Shaquan Lewis, Michael Bolsvert, and James Gomez.

The Spierig brothers, Peter and Michael, will be directing this latest installment of the Saw series. They are best known for their cult efforts Undead, Daybreakers and Predestination. Josh Stolberg and Pete Goldfinger wrote the screenplay. They previously collaborated on Piranha 3D, Piranha 3DD, and Sorority Row. Mark Burg and Oren Koules, who have been with the been with the franchise forever, are returning to produce.

Saw 8 is currently in post-production. Jon Cor's Ryan from the last installment, 2010's Saw 3D is rumored to be back in this sequel. Ryan was seen in the opening trap with Sebastian Pigot's Brad in Saw 7. Writers Patrick Melton and Marcus Dunstan previously revealed in that film's commentary track for the Blu-ray and DVD release, that it was Ryan and Brad who were wearing the pig masks at the end of the film, leading to speculation they may be the ones who unearthed Jigsaw's grave. Jigsaw died in Saw III, but he has been featured through flashbacks in the subsequent Saw movies. With Tobin Bell returning here, it sounds like Saw fans are in for even more flashbacks. Unless Jigsaw has a, gasp...Twin Brother? But they wouldn't do that...Would they?

The Matrix is reportedly getting a reboot



The Matrix is getting a remake. That’s according to The Hollywood Reporter, which says that Warner Bros. is in the early stages of developing a rebooted version of the 1999 cyberpunk classic, with Creed star Michael B. Jordan as the potential headliner.

Zak Penn is currently in talks to write a treatment for the reboot, The Hollywood Reporter claims. Penn is best known for his script work on several superhero movies, providing story assistance for other established writers on X-Men: The Last Stand, The Avengers, and Elektra. Jordan, too, has yet to formally commit to the project (which is itself in early stages), but is reportedly in talks for a major role.

Original Matrix producer Joel Silver reportedly approached Warner Bros. with the idea of creating a new film in the franchise, but The Hollywood Reporter says the studio was worried about a range of issues, including his reputation for budgetary excess, and his relationship with Matrix trilogy creators the Wachowskis. The producer was also reported to have sold his interest in the Matrix movies in 2012 for some $30 million.

The publication says that the Wachowskis — who both wrote and directed the original movie and its maligned sequels — are not currently involved in the new project, but speculates that Warner Bros. would want their approval at the very least before continuing. The siblings are seen to have more value to fans than Silver, although they may not end up taking a major role in production. Original star Keanu Reeves had indicated that he would be willing to return for another Matrix movie were the siblings involved, but THR says Warner Bros. is likely to choose another star and director — even if Michael B. Jordan does not sign on.

There’s no set date for the remake to start production yet, and like the planned Matrix TV show, the project could still get canceled. Some within Warner Bros. apparently see the property as untouchable after its monumental success, but as The Hollywood Reporter notes, the potential of a new cinematic universe built on one of the most engaging movie worlds of the last two decades could be too tempting to pass up.

Edge of Tomorrow 2

When Edge of Tomorrow hit theaters back in 2014, it wasn’t as big of a success as Warner Bros. Pictures hoped. The sci-fi blockbuster pulled in $100 million at the domestic box office with another $270 coming from the rest of the world for a total of $370 million, which isn’t bad for a movie on a budget of $178 million, but it wasn’t a runaway hit. Still, a sequel was put into development last year with director Doug Liman back behind the camera and Race writers Joe Shrapnel and Anna Waterhouse scripting the sequel.

Now we have an update on Edge of Tomorrow 2 that includes the official title for the sequel, as well as confirmation of the return of both leads from the first film. Find out what Doug Liman had to say about development below.

Collider caught up with Doug Liman in an interview for his upcoming film The Wall, and the conversation eventually turned to Edge of Tomorrow 2, which has a title that those who didn’t catch the film in theaters might be more familiar with.

Live Die Repeat is the title that Warner Bros. Pictures gave to Edge of Tomorrow when it hit home video. The studio denied officially changing the title, but it was made much more prominent on the artwork for the VOD release as well as the Blu-ray and DVD. Since then, I’ve heard plenty of people refer to the movie by its new title with no knowledge of its original title, so the attempt by WB to rebrand the movie apparently worked.

Therefore, it comes as no surprise that Warner Bros. is using the new title as part of the sequel’s title. It’s a little bit clunky, but it also fits in with the plot device of the first movie where Tom Cruise relives the same sequence of events over and over again. Does the new title indicate that we’ll see the same plot device used in a new way? Previously Doug Liman said the movie would not only be a sequel and a prequel, so it’s certainly possible and even likely. Liman also said it would “revolutionize how people make sequels” without explaining exactly what that meant.

The best news is that both Tom Cruise and Emily Blunt will both be back. The return of the latter was always assumed, but never confirmed, so it’s just nice to have that solidified by the film’s director. It’s just a shame that we lost Bill Paxton this year, because it would be great to have his scene-stealing character brought back.

Tom Cruise I could do without, but every now and again I do like one of his roles. I liked him and his play of the role in the first Edge of Tomorrow.
Speaking of which, that story-line was done well in the movie, Emily Blunt and Tom both could not have played it better, well maybe ... they could have changed the name of the movie a time or two more :)

It gotta be hard to make a sequel to a story line as we had in this movie.

Zombieland 2:

Ahead of Deadpool 2‘s release, it’s worth remembering that screenwriters Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick (who also penned the first film) have enjoyed a jam-packed decade since they broke though with 2009’s Zombieland. That beloved film, which saw a Twinkie-obsessed Woody Harrelson lead a team of survivors that included Emma Stone, Jesse Eisenberg, and Abigail Breslin, put a wry spin on the flesh-eating apocalypse. After the film became a sleeper hit at the box office, talk of a Zombieland 2 has circulated to varying degrees, although the writers (and stars) have always seemed too busy to make it happen.

Well, Reese and Wernick haven’t forgotten about their baby. The latter spoke with Vulture and believes a second installment is coming, and not only do they want to shoot in 2019, but Wernick says the original cast might be on board:

“We’re going on the tenth anniversary of Zombieland. Zombieland came out October of 2009. We don’t know what you get someone for their tenth anniversary, but it may be a Zombieland 2 … The hope is that we’re shooting that thing early 2019 for an October of ’19 release … With the original cast, by the way.”

Wernick then added that he couldn’t share any more revelations, but that he’s also “sitting on information” that he’s not allowed to reveal right now.

Would it even be possible to film such a sequel, 10 years later, that could both retain the charm of the original and round up an in-demand cast, especially where Stone and Harrelson are concerned? There’s also the sad reality that Bill Murray won’t be back for another extended cameo, considering his character’s fate. Altogether, scheduling such a shindig seems like it would be rough for a 2019 release, but Wernick remains optimistic. We’ll see.

Videos of people pranking each other are a dime and a dozen these days on social media. But before any of these social media platforms were the norm, the real daddies of televised prank were a group of guys who called themselves Jackass. The reality show was aired on MTV for three seasons starting from October 1, 2000, and went on till February 3, 2002. Three spin-offs of the movie have also been made. Now, the latest is that a fourth movie is in the works and is going to hit screens in 2021 Since the last season aired 17 years ago, the cast of the show had moved on to do a number of other things. One of the main leads and creator of the show, Johhny Knoxville, starred in movies and was a regular on TV and other shows. Other members of the cast also starred in spin-offs of the original show. Other prominent names from the show are Bam Margera, Steve-O, Chris Pontius, and Dave England. While most of the cast have aged, including 48-year-old Knoxville, he did admit to needing younger people to infuse some energy into the stunts and pranks that Knoxville will devise and write for the fourth installment.
Knoxville is brimming with ideas and has been thinking about the film for quite a while now. "It's possible, for sure. It's not like we're saying no. If we did do a new one, we'd have to bring in some new younger guys - just to bring some fresh blood into it. But it's possible. I still write ideas down, just in case I get that twitch again. We're sitting on a ton of new ideas. There was so many that we didn't get to shoot for Jackass 3. We have more ideas than we could shoot for Jackass 4, I'll tell you that." Knoxville became a star with the show and admitted he could not really wash his hands completely off of the show. "It's a comedy, but a few of my friends and family members are over that part of it. I totally understand where they're coming from," he said.
He added, "I've been doing this for so long, it's kind of tough to stop. I gotta take care of myself, but God, I don't want to stop. Am I sick? If we did Jackass 4, I would commit. But I may need to give my family a break for a second." Since it's first appearance, the series and the movies have had a loyal fan base.
