First post. Just took my new T1+ out of the box yesterday. Got DOL2 installed and noticed there are some settings that I didn't have on my old T5.
Does anyone know what "OSD Timeout" and "Buffer Time" are and where they should be set?

Press (menu) and the menu will pop up as a banner. The Gear should be selected (larger) press (Enter) Use up/down arrows to get to these settings. Use left/right arrows to change them. There does not appear to be any 'save'. Press the (Exit) key to get back to the main screen.

Thanks. I know where to find the settings but I just want to know what these terms mean and what numerical value they should be set to.

OSD timeout will disappear the ribbon when it pops up. I set mine for 3 seconds.
Buffer is whatever works best for you. Mine is set for 3 seconds but it runs fine anywhere from 2 - 5. I think that 3 is the default.

But what does buffer do?

It stores the stream for that many seconds to get you over the small bumps and hesitations from the internet to you.
