Hi all,
Why is that I can't record on my T1, although I have connected an external hard drive to it ?!
When I press the red button on my remote ( red button is directly above the EPG button) nothing happens? or is it recording and I don't know it? but then how can I stop the recording cause when I press on STOP button nothing happens either ?!! :(
PLEASE HELP.
Many thanks

Did you format it before in FAT32 filesystem on your computer?

Can the T1 format the drive for me?

Thanks Raisin for the reply, but wouldn't I lose everything in my External hard drive if I were to switch the present format to Fat32 format ?!

Yes, if you reformat the drive you will lose all your info.
If the drive you want to use isn't Fat32 and has info you don't want to lose, buy another drive, or even a decent sized USB stick, and use that for your PVR functionality.

Thanks Mano for your time and reply :)
Do you use USB Stick or external Hard Drive?

Does it matter how big the external hard drive is? I mean can I connect a 3 Gig hard drive to T1 or has to be of a smaller size like 1 Gig ?!

I have a 1.5TB hard drive mounted to the T1 with no issues. I can't imagine a largerdrive would cause problems.

So, since T1 can not reformat to FAT32 , I got to do that on my computer first and then connect the redormated FAT32 hard drive to T1 ?

Hi all,
This is getting frustrating :(
I went and bought an external hard drive and formatted it to exFAT ( the only format available besides the default one) and when I press the record button.....NOTHING happens ?!!!
and when I press the red button and hold it for few seconds....it takes a screen shot and stores it in the file manager ?!!!
PLEASE HELP ME....and tell me why I can't get any recordings done....cause I was under the impression that when you press the red recording button...a msg show up on the screen that would say...."recording started" or something like that....and when I press the Stop button....another msg should show up and say " recording stopped" ....or am I dreaming..? Please help....any inout will be greatelyappreciated.
thanks

try formatting with a format tool, like swissknife
http://www.softpedia.com/get/System/Hard-Disk-Utils/SwissKnife.shtml
windows or a receiver do not format large size drives that well.

Thanks crazed for the info, but to get swissknife I gotta pay $9.99 to get the premium? where can I get it for free?
also, once formatted the drive, when I press the red button, am I supposed to see a msg on TV saying "recording started" or how would I know its recording ?!
thanks

Either a message or a red dot appears in the corner of the screen. I do not remember which but you should see something, yes.
I will take a look at where that free version is

try this version.
Scan the download before installing, to ensure is is not a risk.
Or have trust in the website

Thanks a lot crazed :)
is exFAT format same as FAT32?
exFAT was introduced with the Windows Vista SP1 operating systems.
It works and replaced FAT32 as a tool for the OS
But for formatting, I guess it depends on the drive .
exFAT was never intended to format hard drives, or flash memory

I would go with FAT32

Thanks a lot crazed but it says it has compatibilty issues with my Windows 7 :(
I did find another format tool called "EaseUS Partition Master" and formatted the drive to FAT32 but still I don't see a red button showing anywhere on the screen when I press the red recording button ?!!

if you have a smaller usb memory device (like a memory stick), then try that and see if results are the same.

You are using DOL2 right?

While in the DOL2 app click your "Playlist" button (beside mouse pointer button) and you will see whether anything has been recorded.
