M8 versus Mag 250

Hello all this is my first post, and I hope it is in the right place!

What is the difference between an M8 and a Mag 250?

Is it hardware or software(Addons?)

The M8 I have is an Amlogic quad core cortex-A9 8x gpu Mali-450, loaded with kitkat 4.4.2 and Kodi.

I have a friend who recently bought a Mag 250 and was curious to the pro's and cons of both.

yup asft, thats where I went to and am loading as we speak/type!

I had a choice on my M8 to be loaded with Android or Linux!

What is the difference or why would I choose one over the other?

Oh and my M8 has A LOT of add-ons that just don't work or "script error" or some "part is missing, see log file."

I this something fixable if not how/where do I remove those addons?

Is there an M8 tutorial i should be reading instead of asking all these questions?
