But before you go searching for a big salmon-coloured dish in the sky, there are a few things you should know.
When is the Pink Moon?

The pink moon is on April 11 in 2017.

What is the meaning of a ‘Pink Moon’?

As mentioned previously, the moon won’t actually look pink.
It’s name actually derives from the Native American practice of giving titles to full moons.
As there is a full moon tomorrow and it is April, the moon is pink.
The reference comes from the moss pink herb, or wild ground phlox flower, which is widespread by spring.

How do I see it?

The Pink Moon will be visible from 6.08am on April 11.

Why all the fuss?

The full moon in April is significant because it dictates the start of many religious holidays.

For instance, Easter falls on the first Sunday after the first full moon after the Spring Equinox.

It also dictates the beginning of Jewish Passover and the Hindu Hanuman festival.

But the moon isn’t just referred to as a pink moon, it is sometimes called a Full Sprouting Grass Moon, the Egg Moon or the Full Fish Moon.
