Stream fron a Mag...or an Android box?

Ok so...I'm rather new to this stuff. I bought an Android box before I even knew IPTV existed! So, my q is...is there a difference streaming from a box like mine vs a box like the Mag 254? If it'll improve the experience I'll put out...no not sell myself (I'm free) the cashfor a Mag. If not I'll stick with what I have.
Also...dont know where to put this one so I'll ask here. Living in North America, north of the border...should I go through a VPN? As far as I know streaming on both sides of the border is legal. I'd just like to know if I should cover that base.

In my opinion a android box is more versatile but if you only want it just for IPTV then a Mag box is what you need. As for VPN i would say it's always a good ideal to secure you self
