Some Advide?

Hi there friends. My first post Forgive me if I posted in the wrong section I couldn't see the appropriate location I saw this would fit the section.
So here goes..

I have the OTT M8 that uses KODI and all etc etc..
These other IPTV boxes you can use but require a monthly subscription. What I want to know is who owns the servers and there are people selling these IPTV boxes and you have to pay them and they keep your service activated.
Do the individual who is selling the IPTV box own the server or no How does this work.

Can I start my own IPTV Private server and provide a service..
Another thing is do you have to use a SPECIFIC box for that or can you upgrade your firmware on your existing boxes and use the service.

next i would advise you to do some reading ( a lot of reading)
good luck ever finding out who owns the servers
Yoy can load kodi on this box and or use a private server
