I get this pop up " HTTP ERROR 401: Unauthorized" I change the MAC #,reset iptv and every thing

"custom portal" means when one of the 3 supported services (nfps, rocket & iks66) releases a new portal,
which is not covered in the current portal list

e.g. iks66 which only has s1.iptv66.tv release a new portal (s2.iptv66.tv)

with only MAC needed, it seems his service is still based on the old stalker codes

Potato, i used to see the same picture with a background music when i had the problems last week that you said that maybe was due to the m3u list not updating when the Addon updates many times. In my case that pic was showing on the Simple Client side (TV).

after performing some testings, I finally got the similar issue like yours (maybe?)
and it happened when I tried to watch the iptv with the same account (MAC based @ p1.iptvprivateserver.tv)
using 2 different devices (andro tv box & tablet)

with the 1st device (tv box), I didn't get any issues at all

but when I tried to open a channel with the same account on the 2nd device (tablet),
the kodi refused to open it and played the pattern color test instead

after doing some researches, I knew where the bug might be and I also got the solution

the culprits were:

the first token generated by the 1st device (tv box)
the cache being used by the 2nd device (tablet)


the validation time of the cache file on the 2nd device has not been expired
since it's still valid, the 2nd device won't generate a new token and it choose to use the previous one (stored in the tablet)
although a new token has been changed which was generated by the 1st device (tv box)

the recommended solution:

1. you could try to clear the caches & create a new token thru' the potato addon on the 2nd device

and here's the complete steps:

2. you could also try to change the value of the validation / expiry time of the caches to its minimum one (in hours)


open your o/s file manager
goto "userdata/addon_data/plugin.video.potatoTV/" directory
find the "cache_expired.json" ("userdata/addon_data/plugin.video.potatoTV/cache_expired.json") and open it
change any number values of cache that you want to fix it




you could use mine as the reference:

The EPG is way off for most of the channels, some EPG data is so off that the show that's on isn't even part of the guide data.

Some just is off by a few hours. I set up the PTV addon exactly the way it's supposed to. The EPG is set to viper as well as my -4 time zone (NY with DST).

I was reading somewhere that the epg for S2.iptv66 isn't correct but the s1 server is. I tried to update my settings to use s1 but got an error from the server when doing so.
I get the "Ther's an error trying to update this Route." message when trying to do it.

Not sure why it is doing this.

FYI:

"+" (plus) and "-" (minus) in EPG Time Shift work like the accelerator & the brake for your car

if your epg is 1 hour too early (faster) then epg time shift = -01:00 (brake)
if your epg is 1 hour too late (slower) then epg time shift = +01:00 (accelerator)

if you're using the viper8690 as your EPG source,
you won't get the guide for the UKTV

the issue is on the EPG server (viper8690)
currently the server fails to pull the data for the UKTV EPG (temporarily?)

you can check it by yourself

FYI - It looks like VIPER EPG has not being updated or maintained for the last 7 months. Since then many channels have been either changed, added, or deleted. Thus there are many 'holes' in the VIPER EPG. Have not looked at PACh guide.
IF you really want a complete guide it is so easy to use MC2MXL in conjunction with SCHEDULES DIRECT and pull your own guide. I pull 2 weeks of EPG and refresh every 2 weeks, rinse/repeat.

BTW Couch P - Is it possible to use your addon and point to my own guide instead of pointing to VIPER or PACh? I currently keep my guide on a USB thumb drive connected to a NVIDIA SHIELD and access it on KODI app.

I've been seeing that since the first day i installed the Addon when i hit the clear cache option but i'm not really sure what's that.. or when it is necessary to "create" or not a new one.. can you please explain me that? when i use VLC for example i don't see any option to create or not a "token" so what's the importance of it within the addon or Kodi i guess is where it has to be used? VLC only works with the "donation only" account and it will automatically create new caches each time when you open a new playlist

my addon can work with both "donation only" and "donation + MAC" accounts
it will also automatically create new caches ONLY when the session token is expired

you don't have to click the "CLEAR CACHES" too often (the addon will do it automaticaly ONLY when it's needed)

the "CLEAR CACHES" is definitely needed when you're using the same "donation + MAC" account (shared) with 2 different devices/gadgets in a short time
if not, the last token stored in the caches created by 2nd device won't be accepted and the 2nd device will fail to pull the streaming data

if you're using the "donation only" account, the "CLEAR CACHES" will only offer you to create new caches/playlist

with my addon, using either "donation only" or "donation + MAC" will give the same result
my addon is able to detect the exact type of your account

the difference usage between those accunts :

1. mobile reason (compatible with any M3U playlist loaders) ---> "donation only"

2. security reason (it has 2 "guards" : donation # + MAC) ---> "donation + MAC"

Still having problems playing the channels on the PVR side. Did all you said about cache clearing, PVR settings again, etc and nothing. Also uninstalled Kodi and did a fresh install and still won't play channels on the "TV" side. All channels opens through the Potato addon very well but not from PVR or from the EPG. When clicking from the EPG it says "Channel couldn't be played. check log..". So after doing everything and checking all configuration seems fine i decided to check the log. This is what it says:

PVR client will read all items stored in the playlist (potato.m3u)

and when you click a channel,
my addon will work as a middleware which will convert the link in the playlist (potato.m3u) to a Stalker's direct-stream url stored in channels.json

for example:
when you click "ABC New York HD" channel on PVR client
my addon will open the potato.m3u to get the channel's local link

it means that my addon can perform its job properly!

so next time,
when you get the same issue and you also get any Stalker's direct-stream url in your log,

you could also try to open the Stalker's direct-stream url instantly with VLC
and you must open the same url as the one stored in your log at about the same time, in order to perform apple-2-apple comparison



These two and the other tested channels they do open inside the Addon but not on the PVR.

I don't know how to upload a picture here. It ask me for an URL and i don't have any host site to put it.

The same channels that on the PVR don't open, they do work if i open them in the Potato Addon (that's what i mean when i say inside the addon). I don't really understand what's happening, why the PVR won't open them. I'm not using my account in different devices, only my computer. Sometimes i use VLC and all channels work fine there. Only the PVR is giving me this issue. I did an Iptv Reset just in case and still the same, only "free" channels opens in the PVR, but sub ones like hbo, espn or so do not.

I tried what you said of opening the Stalker's direct-stream url instantly with VLC, one of the channels that don't open with the PVR like this one:
hxxp://MYPORTAL/live/MYDONATION/MYDONATION/2.ts and it worked very well. Also tried a couple of other channels and they also opened with VLC (remember all channels works if i open them with Potato Addon also). So the problem is specifically with my PVR or something making a conflict with it.

Thank you Potato. I told you it is something very weird. Your addon is awesome and i know it's working very good. But anyway thank you again for your help. I'm done for the day so I'll read the link you posted tomorrow and will try to find where the problem could be with the PVR. I'll test changing my account also to Donation+Mac and will let you know if i find something.

Today i was reading the link you posted and some others around internet, also tried re-installing Kodi, in this case Krypton 17 and still nothing with the PVR Simple Client, same results as with Kodi 16. No body has a clue why this issue is happening. The only use why i would need the PVR is for the EPG (Guide), so nice it looks all in color but without been able to watch anything that sucks :(. Is there any way the get EPG with VLC? i know that with the Potato Addon we can't expect more than what you have done so far.. :rolleyes:

Just to weigh in here, I too have the same issues with the PVR. If I try to watch TV through it (via TV or through its guide) I get horrible buffer after buffer constant stop go stop go.... It is completely unwatchable. If I watch TV through Couch Potato it works just fine. Just like Vampirito, I too only keep PVR just for the guide. If it weren't for that I'd uninstall it. I have this issue on both my Avov TV Online +, and my LG Android 7.0 phone. Doesn't matter if I use Kodi 16, 17, or a forked version.

I'm no coder so I don't what the difficulties would be but it would be great if a guide could be built for Couch Potato that is completely independent of PVR. If couch Potato had it's own integrated guide it could stand on it's own without PVR and be one hell of a addon.

After trying everything on trying to find the problem with my PVR Simple Client (uninstalled Kodi 4 times, cleared windows registry, installed SimpleClient like 5 times, different m3u lists, etc) i finally found the solution: changed from Portal 1 (P1) to Portal 3 (P3) and did an IPTV Reset after that. Now the PVR is fully working back again and also i'm not getting the nag when i click "tv guide" within the Potato Addon. For some strange reason P1 was rejecting the channels in PVR Simple Client, i say strange because i could open all same channels with VLC and others m3u players.. things i don't understand but anyway i'm glad it's fixed now.

You should first download the repo, as a zip, then install it from the zip. If that is correctly installed, you should get the add-on updates automatically.

That's probably a normal situation. Some channels are more reliable than others, check the Channel reporting forum to see if others have issues with a certain channel.

thanks Dara. I'm gonna look into the channels like you said. the only thing is the EPG nothing mathces to what is actually on. Is there a way to reset all of that so it works or does that automatically update too?

The issue isn't with the Potato TV add-on. There is a file called the addons.ini for Ivue that can be used to set up the proper command from Ivue for each of the channels that directs Potato TV to open it. You still need to do some configuration for the channels that you might be interested in. Maybe asking the nice folks in the user group for Ivue for help out with that.

IDK which EPG you are saying has been missing data for months but I just checked yahyabell and it shows current as of today's date. Try using viper's url and clearing data for EPG in Simple Client again. I read a while back that one of the users who was providing guides has quit using the service and is not updating any longer, think it was Pach.

Creating you own guide is not a terribly big adventure. Give it a try and you won't be dependent on anyone.

Go to setting ptotato tv
then PVR Client select PACH for EPG source,
Under all that You see Server: STOP I selected that waited till it says stopped in bottom corner of screen
Then I select Server: START I selected that wait till it says server started
Go down and and select OK to save
Now in Potato tv app select Cache clear to generate new Token
Now in Potato yv app select PVR cleient select no
now in Kodi go to PVR&Live TV Clear your Data select yes channels will reload
I completely shut down kodi and restart and epg appears

Can't get donation to work. I've been using a regular donation based account for 6 months with no issues. I recently got a reseller account for my buddies and I. I went into potato, reset to defaults, added my donation, set my time zone, did ok, and rebooted.

I tried to clear caches but all I get is authentication errors. I setup and activated all the donations a week ago. Are reseller donations different in any way?

them reseller donations are only different in that you give a client ID to the user. That client ID takes place of the order number, so you do not have to give that order number out to all your clients.
But if you have access regardless, it should work.

Pach (Euyulio's Guide) is more Spanish with some US.
Yahyabell (Viper's Guide) is US/UK with some Spanish and a little Cdn.

Hi .. i dont know if this is the correct spot to add this but i am stumped..

I am running kodi 17.3 on a zoomtak box and i keep getting booted out of live tv after about 1 min.

I have tried disabling simple iptv client and running live tv through potatotv and it still boots me out

F4M TESTESTER is installed
RTMP INPUT is enabled
INPUT STREAM ADAPTIVE is enabled

This is a new box as i could not upgrade from kodi 16 on my other box... sad thing is live tv worked on that one..

Any help is greatly appreciated.

This happens on all channels (you've tested)? If so, you might try disabling video acceleration:

System > Video > Acceleration > Disable the items

Just a quick note. I noticed than using FM4tester prevents you from fast forwarding or rewinding. It also seems to take more time for the video to start playing back. What is the the advantage of fm4tester?

It's a decoder made specifically to decode FM4 files. You can read about it by Googling. As to why it behaves as it does is beyond me. It might be part of the decoding and caching process. I have no need for it currently, so I have little familiarity with it.

I figured out i needed to start the simple client pvr. I found it by doing this
1. Select SYSTEM
2.Select Add-ons
3.Select My add-ons
5. Select PVR clients
6.Select PVR IPTV Simple Client

my tv guide started up. However, my tv guide is not displaying any shows, only channels. it is blank where the shows should be.
another thing is i noticed the "El Rey network" channel does not play for some reason.

I still dont see a simple client pvr settings option in the potato tv addon.

Thank you for that detailed guide. I tried what you suggested in order and to the "T" and tried both url's and even restarted kodi before enabling iptv simple client but I still get the message "pvr settings has not been completely done yet" when I click on TV guide in potato tv.

Channels will play when I click on the IPTV button and movies will play when I click on the VOD button so I know I have setup my account correctly. Its just the TV guide button I'm having problems with. TV guide and everything were working when I had my android box at my dad's but when I brought the android box to my house and did an iptv reset, I started having this problem with the TV guide displaying this message and not allowing me to view the guide.

I also noticed after I enable the pvr iptv simple client, it says loading channels from clients at the top of the screen but the loading bar never goes up. Then it says importing guide from clients and that part does load the bar all the way.

Do you know something else I can try? I don't give up. Should I try removing potato TV and reinstalling it?

You don't use the guide from within Potato TV. You use it via IPTV Simple client from within Kodi. In Kodi, click on TV or Live TV. If you have previously successfully configured IPTV Simple client by choosing that option from within Potato TV and then changed the guide URL address within IPTV Simple client to one of the working ones, you should now be able to access the channels and the guide from within Kodi.

Oh! Thank you very much. That is exactly what I was doing wrong. I had to select "TV" from the main kodi menu, not the TV guide in Potato TV. Thank you for clearing that up for me. I greatly appreciate it. When I first set up iptv in Potato TV and simple client, I was able to view the guide by clicking the TV guide in Potato TV a few days ago. I wonder what changed. Maybe an update? Anyways, thanks again for walking me through this you guys.

Are there any more URLs I can use in simple client encase the two you gave me go down? A list of URLs would be great because I noticed when I use each of the guides provided by those URLs you gave me, some of the channels are blank but most of them do show up.

Hi Ilan, just a quick question.

The changes I was referring to above were on SPMC, and they worked just fine. EPG is synced perfectly with my timezone.

I just did the same changes to Kodi on the same device (with identical set-up of potato tv) and EPG did not correspond.

I'm 8 hours ahead of GMT...but my EPG is behind by 8 hrs.

I remember selecting the correct timezone in the potato tv settings but i remember you saying that the Simple PVR settings override this.....do I also have to indicate the timezone in the simple pvr settings? Simple PVR Client has a field under epg for time offset but it's currently at 0. I tried setting it to +8 and restarted Kodi after clearing all channel and guide data but didnt seem to work.

IPTV Simple client usually doesn't need to be adjusted, at least in the more recent iterations of Kodi. I'd try setting it back to zero, deleting guide data, shutting down Kodi and then restarting it. See if that makes a difference.

I found out why a lot of my channels weren't working. Its because I entered the wrong MAC address prefix into potato tv. everything is working for me know.

I spoke too soon. Today none of the channels will play in the kodi guide. Only VOD works. But when I try to play channel through Potato TV by clicking IPTV and then selecting a channel a video of a "please stand by broadcast" signal is displayed with elevator music. This happens for every channel. Has this been happening for anyone else?

Yes, it can. Install Potato TV and have it configure the IPTV Simple client. It doesn't matter which EPG you choose in Potato TV when configuring because you'll override it in IPTV Simple client. Once you're finished with Potato TV configuration, go to IPTV Simple client configuration and add one of these EPG URLs.

I am already watching the right way by selecting the tv button on the home page of kodi as you suggest. I was just saying it would be extra cool to have a kodi addon with a built in tv guide so we don't have to use IPTV simple pvr client and would be cool if we could have a video preview window in the top right or top left side of this new tv guide kodi addon. I would show you an example of what I'm talking about but I'm not sure if the mods on this site will allow me to talk about other IPTV providers.

I couldn't find out why but it was like V1.0.3 in FTMC KODI. I broke down thinking running Potato TV will be similar with the pretty guide interface and I AM LOVING IT.

I know everyone says DREAMLINK interface but I have yet to find any screen shots to compare. A picture is worth a thousand words to me with interface issues.

There are any number of ways to get a colorized epg, it just depends on the skin you are using. All that has to be done is to add genres and map colors to said genres. The xml skin file can be edited to change the amount of channels shown in the display. I listed a MOD for Confluence skin last year in the epg section and it has the directions for which files to change as well as 2 sets of genre colors, depending on your preference. Of course, you can tweak the genres to your personal preference if you like certain colors over others. It's really easy to do.

Thanks Ilan, I read it, I remember this back in some EPG work but thanks to many members the guide is alive and well. I pulled one of the community effort guide.xml and put it in progtv. It was great for muli-channel guide but crude GUI and navigation drifts in the timeline if you scroll up or down the channels so... no thank you sir. The work you mention, expatter, thank you for your efforts. The colorful scheme utilized appears limited, for now, to FTMC/KODI.

I am all over the forum and the web and duly sweating the technique playing with new players. I am starting to think I gotta throw cash at a couple boxes and see what shakes out in the EPG area . I just feel greedy, I want it all, I want on demand, a clean gui with multichannel guide and recording. I'm weary and wise and don't fly too close to the sun. I'm happy with potato tv but willing to change someday.

The work in the skins and xml guide have set the standard, in my mind, for what I expect in a live tv/rebroadcast interface. I just cant find anything that would substitute unless a T2 or buzz would get a similar or improved GUI.

I just haven't found anything to replace potatotv for GUI implemented in KODI plus have a section to get the VOD. I have tried some players for android, not impressed with the GUI. Kens has a new addon in the same vein so to speak and it looks about the same since its in Kodi.

TV-Online is Good and it has VOD also...! Guide is Good Also but not for the UK Chnls lately... My Question, I Guess, should have been worded just a tad dif...! I am Wondering if using the Potatotv stays Up longer than the TV-Online does...! Less Freezing, less chnl changing(moving around/switching), less chnls disappearing and going Black Screen... Me Friend says She has to turn the AVOV Off and Unplug it about every other day and sometimes every day 3-5 in a row...! Then it is Good for a Day or Two, sometimes longer...! But She can't use that Guide that Kens worked Hard and Long on as for some reason KODI 17+ won't load on it...! If I get Lucky enough to Win the Contest, I'll Give Her that STB so She can have Fun and Enjoy TV Again...! Thanks for Your Reply...!

Kens guide should load on it. I have not used it until recently but I run it on Kodi 17.4 and 17.6 during recent tests using the IPTV simple client and the stalker client. I am pretty sure it should work. Gotta be a typo in there. You have to modify the EPG URL. I think pototat tv also has some keymaps with it too.

Potato TV is obsolete. The replacement is IPTVextra.

IPTVXtra is based on the PotatoTV old code, but has been reworked to implement all new features available.
Here is link to Instructions and Link to the Repository. download and install the repo into Kodi, then Install IPTVXtra and Media Info addons.

I would not regard the program as obsolete, it continue to function as it was set up to do. Although it has not been supported by the developer in recent times it still continue to function with some assistance from kens epg update. I am still using this program at this time without any issues.
