It is not showing thru http on the mag254 itself or at their firmware website.

There was, as of yet an unofficial file for the Mag256.
But that is not on infomir website either.

I do know there has been an expected new file push for the newer 256 model. The new file for that showed up about a week or so ago on the web, but was not pushed thru the box yet.

Far as this 254 r16 fileand what the update is for, Bkman prolly has the answer

I noticed when i stuck an airmouse keypad in the mag it worked a treat. Cursor select and exit . Could it be a tweak for external remotes?

things have not gotten any better with the r16 firmware... so I went back to the r14

You can still update back to the r14 thru your receiver (no need for USB loading)
The r14 is still on the server, but you have to go into inner portal and then Settings and then Software Update.
It should show as the r14 there ready for update.

Also noticed since I went back to r14 is that in that inner portal settings menu, there are icons that disappeared with the r16 but came back with the r14

I updated to R16 and I kept getting a connection problem box. Even though internet is working fine. But the Box kept throwing the connection out. So reverted back to the R14 and it seems to be working fine. If you guys want the URL link for R14 let me know.

you should sill be able to update back to the r14 , just thru the mag and the internet connection (see post #18 shown above)

When does it give an error and what error is it ?

okay, but lets try thru the receiver and http again, that is easiest method.

depending where you are at in the menu screens, get into the Inner Portal.
If you are in Live TV and Video Club viewing menus, then scroll over till you see the Settings tab and then in there is a 'Go to Inner Portal' option.
Then into the next Settings tab you will see there.
Then in there ensue it shows...
Autoupdate : With Confirmation
Update beta versions = On

Then use the green button on remote (update Manually).
Then with New Version slot highlighted, use the bottom left hand button on your remote (as pictured on that New Version slot). That function will bring up any and all versions available. The r14 and the r16 should be there.

If not, then exit back to where the menu screen shows the 'Select a portal for loading'

It gives you chooses of Embedded Portal and your server URL portal and the System settings Portal
Go into Settings.
Then scroll the next screen down till you see the Software Update option.
Open that and it should show ..
Update Method : HTTP
URL : http://mag.infmir.com.ua/254/r2/imageupdate

Then OK to verify....
Then Exit back out and into Embedded Portal and into Settings and back into Software autoupdate and the green button again.

No, must be at your end. Works fine here.
Maybe your isp is blocking you. Try to restart your router. Try to reset your rocket. Maybe your cable is broken.

With that r16 not working at the best on the mag254 and this r17 release, it seems logical that infomir has been watching the results.
Could be that the 250 and 254 are test runs for the mag256 firmware update, which has been anticipated.


This mag254 is working fine with the r17 to this point.

I noticed that my MAG254 had autoupdated to r-17 this morning.
This seems to have fixed an issue I have had with subtitles on HD tv channels.
However I see that now the EPG is not working!
Anbody else with this problem and hopefully a solution?

I've just seen what the EPG problem is caused by, I do not get any confirmation that the ntp address has been saved

I do not think vapour's issue has to do with the r17 update (could try a few reboots maybe might fix that)
The r16 had some issues.

The other service I use there is also a forum, and there it is allowed to discuss other iptv providers, because they are not scared of the competition because they are light years ahead of this service and I should after more than 200 days of testing and as a paying subscriber be allowed to call this complete garbage.

I tried going back to r14 and still the volume will not work, so it is something to do with rocket. I guess we have to just wait.

r14 and r16 and r17 are all still available right there thru your mag receiver.... I just checked and they are all there :)

Mag does do a reboot automatically after a file has been loaded, but there is also a Reboot Device option, shown in that Settings tab menu.
It may fix that Audio issue.

r17 is full of bugs. I am stock on r17 and can't downgrade to previous firmwares. RC features don't work, F4 blue moving channels do not work, F3 yellow favorites does not work, adult channels are now on the adult section of the tv section not DV section. the lock on channels can not be removed, other settings also missing.

I see people here downgrading because of problems, so must not be good updating.

There seems to be some confusion with descibing the Mag's Image Versions and the Image Desciptions

The Image Version can be thought of as a suitcase. The suitcase is the same suitcase that is used to carry around all of the defferent Images files.
Our suitcase can be seen as the 0.2.18 ... or also referred to as simply 218

The actual Image Vesrions are the r10, r12, r14, r16, r17
and some older ones

I went to r17 and never looked back.

I just updated once the firmware, since I got the Mag 254 around couple years ago when IPTV Rocket was first offered.

Does upgrading the firmware delete all the data or favourite IPTV links saved in the internal memory ?
If so, how can we back up the data before we do a firmware upgrade ?


What are the instruction how to update ?

Can we download the firmware on website to pc and copy to usb for upgrading by plugin to usb of Mag 254 ?

What is the url to download from ?

Is there a way to save current firmware just in case we wish to downgrade back to it ?

All answers are there. Except the erasing user data question.

Loading firmware and a reboot willl not affect the data base or server info
A factory reset will however.

I do not think you can BackUp your user data on the Mag, or I have never come acroos on how to do that.

I find that the mag 254 goes to a blank screen when it loses it's signal.
Then when I try to put on a new channel the mag 2524 locks up.
I have to unplug the mag 254 to have it reboot in order to be able to watch a new channel.
NFPS is really quite bad for this.

Any suggestions?

One thing that may help, or may not.. but it may.

What is the Buffer Size set at ?
Try different values for that setting and test for results.

System Settings > Advanced Settings > Buffer size

I updated my MAG 250 to r17 after doing a factory reset. I have noticed a couple of issues. Buffer keeps resetting itself to 3 seconds. Location not saved in outer portal. Anyone else had these problems?

c'mon fix the firmware already. typed in http://mag.infmir.com.ua/254/r2/imageupdate then clciked verify says damaged.. went to inner portal tried again read error. frustrating. Deja vu back to the end of days of the coolsat. I got the red dots on channel guide and I'm getting the red ass wasting my time. It was near perfect in the weeks up to update. One more sigh from my kid on the sofa hes gonna get a hawiian punch in the mouth. putting away till weekend. then Ill try again
