Mag 254 connection

My Mag 254 will boot up normally to the menu page but when I try to select any of the items on the page, it will turn off and I can only get it to turn on again by re-booting the box. Occasionally, when I press the power button a few times it will allow me in. Is there a fix for this or is anyone else having the same problem?
