New EPG Option -open discussion

Does everyone loose their EPG at some time during the day? I seem to loose it everyday at around 3pm (mountain time), it does come back the next day. I have tried resetting kodi, clearing the data in the General and Guide tabs in Kodi TV-Settings, still no update.

In the Guide tab I have the Days to Display set to 3 days, and the Update Interval set to 705 Min. In the Stalker Client addon, I have the Guide preference set to XMLTV Only, Cache Guide Data enabled, the Cache time set to 48 hrs, Scope set to Remote URL and the Remote URL set to hxxp:/yahyabell.com (note: the 2 xx's in hxxp are actually tt).

Is this happening to everyone or is there something that I am doing wrong here?

Don't cache the guide data :). The guide is populated everyday at midnight GMT and has 48 hours worth.

I would think a second guide with a different URL would be the way to go. There are still quite a few folks who have limited RAM devices and the current 48 hour EPG works well for them. Bumping up data would cause lots of crashes for them when the guide's invoked.

Well, that's got me perplexed at the moment. Resetting and deleting the data (as you have), should have remedied the situation. I just checked Viper's guide and it loaded the HD channel information for me. Let me cogitate a bit... Meanwhile, let's see what happens with the next unforced update.

I think he makes the changes when he has time, like on the weekends. That is why some of the new HD channels are populated, while some of the very newest are not.

It would be nearly impossible to automate the process, since "the process" would have to know in advance what the service channel name is versus the source channel name in order to create both the CHL file and the more daunting REN file.

There's nothing other than inspecting the channels in the PVR or in the database, so it ends up being a time consuming visual inspection task.

Yes, I agree. It would require a lot more programming to adapt this process. Would need to download the TV29.db file on a daily basis and compare the channel list in that database to the previously downloaded database channel list and make automated modifications to the .ren and .chl lists based on those changes. Then let the rest of the process do its thing.

If I knew how to create my own guide I would do it myself but I dont. That's why I'm requesting. Kodi 17 just loaded automatically on my Nvidia Shield this morning.. Had to play around with cache settings on PVR Stalker add-on and clear all existing cache, then voila, guide loaded as expected.
Just trying to get used to the new Kodi 17 gui. - cosmetic changes, etc.

I stumbled into the following issue today and was wondering if anyone else has experienced it.

Kodi was updated today from v16 (final) to v17.x (v17.0 Git:20170201-a10c504) on my Android box (Marshmallow), via the PlayStore. It was updated just like all other updatable apps were.

After the update completed, I launched Kodi and let it complete it's little first-run "Upgrading plugins ..." task. All was well. I simply needed to re-enable the Stalker Client (perhaps it was updated, too, as part of the "first-run" task). The Stalker Client version is now v2.8.3 (I don't recall what it was before the Kodi update). That works, too, thankfully but for this:

The EPG no longer loads. My stalker XML configuration file hasn't changed, so the http://yahyabell.com URL is still in effect.

The message is: Stalker Client: Unable To Load Guide

Has anyone else noticed this after upgrading to Kodi 17? I'm scratching my head. :confused:

look in your kodi log file for some hints.(you may have to turn debugging on)
it should show when it tries to connect to that address.

dont see where it tries connecting to server(yahyabell),it should be somewhere before that or is it ok?
parse failed could be because it didnt actually connect to the server.
try pinging the yahyabell adress and replace it with the actual ip.

I get the following stanza repeated about five times. Note below that URL, http://epg.example.com/, is simply a subdomain I created from my personal domain (which is not actually "example.com" :)), so that I didn't have to remember the lengthy real URL. But as seen right after, the "effective" URL was correctly resolved. For completeness, however, I did try directly setting the underlying URL (well, actually, http://yahyabell.com) in one of my Portals (portal-5 and then selected that), but that did not resolve the issue. Worth a shot, but it wasn't the problem. :)

Yeah just read the many posts before yours. Funny that some people have the guide with kodi 17. I wish they would shed some light instead of just saying it works. I'm sure they tweaked it somehow to get the guide to work. I've already spent hours with no luck.

Yes, use it as the remote url. In actual operation, the yahyabell address redirects to that Github address.

Yes, I did last night as part of my troubleshooting. See the following post (it's just a few posts before this one).

When, in the below post, I said "used the underlying URL (at the deepest level -- with no indirections)", I meant that I used the canonical URL directly (no aliases -- i.e. the very one you refer to above) in my settings.xml. But as you can see from the debug log in the below post, doing so did not resolve the issue, sadly.

I have been trying now for a couple of hours to get this working and still no luck. Will this work with IPTV Stalker Plus version 10.2.4? There is no option in this version to set the guide information. I can set it in the pvr.stalker addin.

Turned on cache guide data in stalker client using the github URL and it worked this morning.

Haven't tried the yahybell URL yet.

There is no reason to change the URL if things are working. Ultimately, the yahya URL simply redirects to the Github address anyway.

P.S. A little off-topic, but I was happy to finally see Kodi-17 download-able (again from the Android PlayStore). Kodi-16 final was crashing on me every time I used it (multiple times per use session). It was really bad. But that is now gone with Kodi-17. \o/ So Kodi-17 configured with (the downloaded-able) Confluence skin is all goodness now. :):):)

The default kodi 17 skin is very smooth. I think it's time to move on from confluence. The channel and guide startup when going into kodi Seams a lot faster loading.

I gave Estuary a chance, but I think that's a matter of personal preference, not a technical advantage of one over the other (kodi and channel load times are the same). But, for example under Confluence, the way that the Stalker Client positions the channel list on the left-hand-side and the Now-playing-preview-video/inset-box on the upper-right-hand-side, isn't replicable in Estuary. There are other differences, too.

I'm not in front of my set-up now. Take a look at the guide settings

System > Settings > TV > Guide

There should be a setting for the default click. Have it set to switch channels.

If you're clicking future shows, you obviously won't get it to launch.

I got the same message with the pvr. But I after The no load message I let it sit a couple more seconds wen the message left. Another message appeared an I seen the channels loading then the guide loaded. An now it works for me.

Is it just or is iptv keep removing more channels. When I first got my subscription there were 862 channels and last week there were 809 and day before yesterday there were 797 channels and today it's only 796 channels. So what's happening to all the channels

Hi Friends:

This evening Stalker/IPTV doesn't appear to be working. Nothing changed on my end.

This comes up for about 20 seconds (give or take) ...

PVR manager is starting up:
Loading channels from clients

Then finally:

Stalker Authenticating Failed. Retrying

I tried clearing chaches, etc. The usual stuff.

I also tried logginng to pap....tv and clicking the "IPTV Reset" button, but got a:

Sounds like you are using a version of Kodi 15. If so, the easiest thing to do is to update to 16.1. I wouldn't take the leap to 17 yet.

Technically, you can downliad and edit the guide to deal with the issue, but you'd have to it every day.

well….this morning the yahyabell epg failed to load again.

due to all these changes being made on the server and how this ervice is accessed, I am wondering if it will ever be back.

I am using the built-in Stalker Client that comes with Jarvis.

I have also set up the Xtream-Codes IPTV.

What are my options to get a EPG Guide now?

The EPG loaded fine for me this morning. Moreover, the changes here won't affect the guide itself. It can, of course, limit its utility in different add-ons/apps.

Delete guide data to see if it will reload successfully for you.

This was working fine on my Kodi 17.1 on my android box last week, but last night I tried this url on my Kodi 17.1 on Fire Stick, and after I enable the stalker, Kodi quits when it tries to load the guide, without the url in the stalker addon kodi loads all channels and they work. Any solution or is it because this no longer works ?

check your kodi log(you may have to enable debugging).there should be some indication why its crashing.

It should definitely work, if not, then it's because the IPTV Provider you are using has their channels uniquely named.

For example, if on that website they have CNN as "CNN HD" ...BUT, your IPTV provider has titled the channel "CNN HD US", then you won't get any guide data for this channel unfortunately..

I'm having this issue with another IPTV provider, and I'm going to be working hard to figure out how to make it work! (I'm hopeful to say the least)

anyways, again if it doesn't work for you, it's only because your IPTV provider has their brain located in their A$$ :-)

Your post is too vague for us to help you. Simple Client pvr has the ability to offset the epg data in the settings for this issue. This works well in Kodi version 16.1. For 17.3 it doesn't always work (depending on OS), but you can overcome this problem by using the Potato TV addon and go into settings > pvr and change the EPG Time Shit +/- for whatever your issue is. It works!
