Dumb question

With the mag 254 when not watching it is it better to shut off unit or simply leave it on. I know with old system they always said leave stb on. Thanks

I just turn off using remote, if in menu after awhile it turns itself off.

I just leave mine on in the Channel categories never goes out but is not important far as I can tell.

if you want to save electricity unplug it otherwise don't worry about it and leave it on.
secondly there is no such thing as a dumb question , on the contrary... dumb people ask no questions.

So I assume that if you leave it on in the menu and not on a channel it wont take any bandwidth up?

I have all of my devices plugged to a surge protector and every night before I go to sleep first i turn them off from the remote then the back switch if any and finally I turn off the swich from the surge protector just in case we get a lightning over the night and to protect them from being burned out and I believe this the safest way.

the provider sets the IDLE TIME - 3 hours is about standard ..
