Kodi vs Mag?

Hi Guys,

I spent about 8 hours today researching, installing, following guides for Kodi etc, then stumble across MAG set tops and feel like I am back to square one.

I tried Kodi and it seems great how you can add your own add ons etc, but I am finding it very hard to find an add on that allows VOD of UK TV, they all seem hit and miss and many seem to not work or load the stream. The EPG doesnt seem to work and the interface seems a little menu driven, but I am sure this is customizable.

Before I delve too deeply I wanted to first research the Mag box's I see a lot of on ebay.

What operating system are they using? And who is the subscription going to? Is there a viable copy of the ease of use, interface etc on the Kodi?

I like how they seem to just 'work'. Or do they rely on free links to streaming?

What is this stalker plus I keep reading about? Is this only a MAG feature?

MAGs from infomir are generally single purpose IPTV boxes that access Stalker middleware servers. Kodi is a platform-independent media center application that has the ability to access IPTV services.

Ah OK so MAG is really for one use only, the IPTV? Does the OS install on other HTPC style hardware?

Who is providing the IPTV subscription service with the MAG units?

I have not looked into MAG much as I thought Kodi would be more customisable and feature rich as well as upgradable, however I struggle to find decent EPG, UK Streams and 7 day catchup style VOD service.

I understand a lot of the Kodi addon packages that stream are free and so understandably less well featured. Is there a similar MAGG style subscription provider of an addon that is stable and offers quality streams and VOD?
