If everyone in your area is on the same router channel that could affect the performance.
here is a simple way to find out what channels people are on.
I am using windows 7 for to show you how>
- click on Start key in the lower left side of your screen
- type cmd
- type netsh in the command prompt window that pops up.
- type in the command prompt wlan show all (make sure you space wlan show and all)
the entire list will flash across your screen of your neighbourhood routers.
here you can check what channels are being used & what your signal strength of your router is.
