The transfer rate of the wifi adapter may be the problem.

Wifi signal is effected by many factors in your home, it is preferred not to use wifi in your situation but if you must a suggestion would be to get a wifi range extender (Linksys AC1200Max $80.00 is a good one with four wired connections) or a more cheaper one with just one lan connector $40.00 (do not get range extender that will not give you an Ethernet plugin). Another option is to use a power line adapter.

Maybe look for interference. Anytime you go wireless you have the chance of that. See if other wifi networks are on the same channel. If they are try changing the channel of your network. Crank your buffer all the way up. See if anyone is sucking off your wifi. After doing that if you still have trouble you will just have to hardline it.

I dont think wifi is the issue. Even hardwire, channel freeze at different time even hardwired or wifi (from my observation). It is on the server side.

Wi-Fi channels overlap with nearby channels. Channels 1, 6, and 11 are the most frequently used for 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi. These three channels are the only ones that don’t overlap with each other.

I have had the same freezing problem with my wifi adapter, and I had to go back to the land line. But, the information entered here will help me check some things, especially since my Mag is only about 6 feet from the router. I have a netgear with out an antenna, allow my neighbor to have access, they are an elderly couple but their granddaughter recently moved in with them. I have used it at other locations without any problems.

Sometimes could be wireless interference.
