View Full Version : How can I shut down the Mag 254 when I press the power button on remote?

Pressing the power button on the remote simply puts the device in standby, so it boots up quicker the next time you want to use it. BUT, how do I configure it so it does a full shutdown instead? I don't want it in standby. Reason is because it still uses the network in standby (to keep it connected to the IPTV service). It must ping the server every once in a while or something whilst in standby. I don't want it to do this. I want to cut-off all network connections from the device when it's not in use.
So is there any solution? Thanks.

That's not really a solution. Pulling out the wires from the back is a hassle.

Not the solution I was looking for. :( Isn't there somewhere in the firmware I can do this?

That just makes it so you have to redo all of your fav's. There is no way that I know to just shut down the box. If you lose power, you lose any setting you have for channels.

in main screen go to settings, scroll down to inner portal,ok> go to settings,ok>scroll to interface,ok>you will now see HDMI event reaction, disable this and ok to save. Not sure if this will work in you caser or not.

Sorry for the thread jacking but I need to say that the above is not true at all as I've done this many times (not just power bar turned off but actual plug taken out from MAG box itself).

Sorry to bump this but I'm still looking for a solution to this. Any software solution other than yanking out the cord?

Older firmware shut box off. I did not notice this standby deal until last update. So if you have to shut it down all the way, reload older firmware to the mag and that should solve the "problem".
