mode not supported

A friend of mine bought his mag 254 over my house to show me what it does. And after the loading process the screen goes black and says... resolution not supported. Change the resolution of the external device.. but none of the buttons on the controller working for me to try to make any type of change.. I'm stuck at this point.. I tried changing hdmi ports.. tried unplugging power and ethernet cord.. it does the same thing continuously

boot to BIOS menu and make sure your on NAND and check resolution settings for NTSC, adjust according to your TV...
also make sure to update to latest firmware..

None of the buttons worked from that point.. I switched tvs and got it working on it.. it gave me that message on tv number 2 but worked itself out automatically. . But tv number 1 .. no button worked on the controller because nothing came on the tv screen.

He took it back now.. I had ordered 3 a couple days ago.. so it should get here in another week or 2..on tv number 2 it gave me that message but eventually came up.. but the quality was very terrible on tv number 2.. so when my new boxes come. I'll have some tweaking to do.. thanks for help
