I hope one of the gurus can help out here
wanted to fix spinning wheel of death when you select a channel and it just sits there in limbo so I read up on installing the keymap editor
was playing around with it but couldn't get it to work , but I was able to at least use the editor in kodi 16.1
it set up the wrong key on my remote and so I could only uninstall the program first
but when I went in and reinstalled it than tried to run it again I now only get ,,, Error failed to load keymap file
is there a way to fix this
any help would be appricated

keymaps are in your userdata/keymap folder

but I cannot get there when in kodi,,,, I thought the only way to get there would be to just connect my m8s+ to a laptop via usb to usb to see that folder?
or is there a way to be able to network this m8s+ to my network???
I have a wd media player that I have networked no problem
I have my m8s+ ehternet connected to my router
any ideas here ,, I would love to see how I can connect this box up either way to get into where you want me to go ?

Ah great thanks. Is es file explorer the best to use
could I start from scratch since I keep getting failed to load keymap file even when I uninstall keymap editor and re install it
go into userdata and delete the keymap text,,, would I then be able to install keymap and have it create a new one that way, then I can try to set it up again ?

ok I went into settings/appearance/ files and selected show hidden files,,, but when I go into file browser local drive/Android/data/org.xbmc.kodi/files still nothing shows up Why?
do I need ES file Explorer to see these files? I need to download the program or does the built in file browser do the same thing
yesi think you do need ES file Explore install to fine the files

Re-install kodi. it should not delete your settings. You seem to have deleted your system keymap file, or corrupted it.
When you modify the system keymap file (Kodi/System/Keymaps) it places the modified file in your userdata/keymap directory. It checks there to see if there is a modified file, then uses that instead of the system file. You may have corrupted the mod. file, but it may still be in the directory.
this is the location of the userdata directories for a number of platforms.
Android Android/data/org.xbmc.kodi/files/.kodi/userdata/keymap (see note)
iOS /private/var/mobile/Library/Preferences/Kodi/userdata/
Linux ~/.kodi/userdata/keymap
Mac /Users/<your_user_name>/Library/Application Support/Kodi/userdata/keymap
OpenELEC /storage/.kodi/userdata/keymap
Windows c:\Users\<your_user_name>\app data\roaming\kodi\userdata\key map
Note* Android location
Sometimes the exact path will differ from device to device. The Android userdata folder is usually inside of "sdcard" so the path might be /sdcard/Android/data/org.xbmc.kodi/files/.kodi/userdata/keymap
Check there and if keymap.xml is in the userdata/keymap directory, delete it and start kodi. If you still get the error, you will have to reload kodi.

FYI - When using keymap editor, if there is a problem with the keymap, launch keymap again, and select "return to default".
If you delete the editor, you lose this capability.
