Mag 254 remote control problem

Everything was fine yesterday but this morning the remote does not work with the box.
I have changed the batteries and the red light on the remote does flash when I hit the on/off button.
but the box does not respond.
I have unplugged and restarted the box and it gets to the menu screen but that's it.
I think I may have disabled the remote some how.
Any way to ensure that the remote is active with the box?. thks

UPDATE:
I found the fix which I used and my remote is now working correctly:
To reset:
Press SETUP and OK button at same time and hold for 2 seconds red LED will flash 5times. Reset is done.

Hope this may help others with the same issue.
