I've been reading a lot of threads on subject as above. I've dug on-line, and I still have no idea what purpose either of the above serve....What exactly do they do ?? I'm at a loss on the subject, any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

The ATSC is used for OTA Antenna. An antenna to pick up local station, as for the S2, its used for Satellite but only FTA, it doesn't work for DN if that's what your wondering.

DVB-S2 is for Satellite dishes starting with 18" dish using KU band LNB feedhorn to Big Dish starting around 8' using C-band LNBF feedhorn
ATSC is over the air that is hooking up rabbit ears to your TV and scan in digital channels that the local broadcasters are sending
