Why would you want to even if you could do? If you want XBMC, buy an android box. I am surprised by how little reading people do.

Not to disagree with anyone, however I would think that "how to install Kodi/XBMC on your Mag254" is in fact a solid question and interest actually.....and is not ridiculous or from lack of reading... Even if someone had years of testing under their belt and have read every forum post they could find, they may still be motivated to ask this question. So... Good question IMO and I'll add to why I feel that way.
Toting a computer around, or having several stbs to juggle, really isn't the average bears cup of tea. Keeping it clean, or normal looking around your tv is almost always on the priority list. So, to be inquisitive about how to consolidate multiple options and trying to configure an stb that can support say, "co-existence", of things like IPTV, Kodi addons and even IKS is interesting, IMHO.
Again, IMO, Having Kodi on a box like the mag254 (or other IPTV stb), like say how YouTube is today, would allow access to a huge world of addons and content that will probably never be available on the informir firmware. Addons like Genesis or Phoenix, just to name a few would be cool. These addons also have a significant amount of 1080p & HD movies available. They also offer entire tv series on demand ranging from A to Z. Several of these on demand shows/stations are also NOT available on IPTV today, like shows on Bravo and Velocity.
Now, wanting to Install the stalker addon within Kodi/xbmc on the mag would be ridiculous. The Mag portal is soooo much better and even has the Charlie channel lineup, chan # wise. But, having access to the endless repos of addons on Kodi would definitely be a BONUS!. :)

Kodi for Linux is primarily developed for Ubuntu Linux. Third-party packages for most other Linux distributions are however available, and it is also possible to compile Kodi media center software application from scratch for nearly any Linux distribution. Linux supports full hardware decoding with most graphics cards. Linux is generall the best way to get a fast, free, and "appliance" feel for an Kodi powered HTPC. ..
This is kind of an old thread, but not that it isn't possible to install Kodi on a Linux box (because it is), its that the Mag 254 is just coded for single purpose as an IPTV box, not a general purpose box. In practice, its easier to get a high performance Android box, and install Kodi and STB emulator, in my opinion, rather than to repurpose the MAG. If Infomir was able to make it work (They tried with the MAG 260), I'm sure they would have done it.

MAG 254 uses the Linux 2.6.23 and those of you who are familiar with this operating system are aware of how to do. So personally I've lost a lot of time for this project .
We have 3 options :
- Custom firmware - access to a fixed IPTV portal and KODI in addition. Тhis is the preferred way because did not allow traders to abuse developers labor.
- fixed KODI, Netflix, Hulu Plus, Vudu … portals which has been restricted for a limited number of users and they can use theirs personal passwords for access to paid platforms
- single units with built KODI, they has KODI icon in the inner portal. We do not sell single copies of hem, we have no commercial interests to the end users
